Crysis is one of THE best shooter games on the market! I dont know what it is about running around in a forest with a cool nano-suit but its just awesome!
However, despite the detailed graphics, the fantastic gameplay and the joy of killing random bots :D there is a problem!!! The story of the game is not great, that much was obvious when it said aliens.... but the ending itself is complete bull! It leaves litte imagination as to what will happen in the sequal and is altoghther cheesy.
Here is one disgruntled gamer saying: if you can give me one reason how the ending was good I will seriously consider sending you money.
PS Crysis is a great game and DESPITE the crappy ending it is still worth all the money.

Crysis is really a vehicle used to sell an engine... It is definitely quite impressive, both technically and visually, but they didn't need to worry about things like a story and ending. It was secretly meant to show other developers how powerful the engine is so they'll pay for the rights to use it.

That does make sense, but still. I have the impression that if you are going to do something, you might aswell do it right. I mean think about how great the game would have been if the story was atleast slightly better.

Not even going to try it. :| From what I saw of it, the engine doesn't scale downwards very well.
This is a signature. There are others like it but this one is mine.

My husband has that game. I got sick of it after five minutes because I could hear it in the background saying "maximum speed....maximum armor....maximum blah blah blah...." It was very annoying. :dizzy:

Yes I know that this game is retarded. It's also fun for some retarded reason.
This one is less retarded, but it's mostly just fun for the trolling

tech demo is tech demo.
Though, joking aside, Crysis is medicore but the engine is fantastic. I totally ignored the story and just spent hours upon hours dicking around. CryENGINE2 is almost better than Valve's Source, now, a face off to see the winner.

well Source has been a couple of years old now, but it's still good plus the HL 2 games are really good. Some of the other games (Sin) aren't that great (I enjoyed it though)

I just played the demo after reading this thread. Even with everything set to max, I'm still not 100% happy with the look... Maybe with so much stuff it just doesn't anti alias very well? Even when it set to the highest level (16xQ).
But all the physics were great ^_^
Cutting down trees with guns, throwing barrels through buildings and watching them collapse, seeing how the oil drains from barrels realistically, etc. It worked well!

I think you weren't actually seeing it maxed out, Ozone. I'm just saying that because they've strapped four of Nvidia's strongest graphic card together to run this game and it still could not max the settings.

Yeah my husband has a brand-spanking new Alienware with quad Nvidia vid cards, and Crysis was still a little laggy on default video settings. I thought the Alienware could handle it, but there were times when it panned out or showed the other people in nano suits when the computer was like "uuuhh too much data...".
And yeah, those turtles rocked, lol

Well it's on all the highest settings and runs... So...?
All that happens is that the pans aren't as smooth.
The thing is that if you've got the anti-alias set to a high level and it runs with no complaints, it should actually be anti aliasing? It is, but in the distance some of those leaves still seem like they might be jaggy...
Heh, all in all it's a pretty game and it's fun to play with the physics. I made a boat out of all the crap I threw in the water ...Throwing things high into the sky and seeing what happens when they land on stuff is cool.

HawkI checked again. All settings are indeed on Max in my Crysis demo, I also checked that the demo runs the same as the full version. that

I actually set the wide screen res a little lower though.
And yeah, works great :)
My machine is pretty good, but it's only got the one video card (8800GTX), and even so there's no worries. Plus, all I've read about quad SLI is that it just doesn't work very well anyway. 2 or 3 cards in SLI is a bit better, but for the cost, heat and power consumption, there's not too much advantage in performance really. From what I've read anyway.
