How do I create an eye catching banner? I feel like people gloss over me in the forums, and I have no idea how to make people stop and say "that looks cool!" and click on my banner.

well to be honest, I don't like your art. I've never been into 3D comics. Also it should be brighter. Not grey and black on white.

Make it something you'd like to lok at yourself if you saw it for the first time.
For 3D art I'd go for the colourful cartoony look of TF2 artwork :)
