Just wanted to ask if anyone else who had a page on comixpedia.org noticed that the site has gone offline and the URL sold onto an unknown buyer.
I recently got an email from someone called Josh Roberts, informing me that I did not have a page on comixpedia, to promote Geeks the Comic Strip. I emailed him back, informing him that I had already done so a few weeks prior to his email.
He also stated that he had acquired comixpedia.org and was looking for new admins.

A week later, the site simply vanished without a trace. No warning, no placeholder explaining the sudden closure, nothing.

I know that wikipedia has been very snobbish towards webcomics, and only allows the odd "famous" few comics to be promoted on their "hallowed" portal, and comixpedia was a good place to promote in a wiki enviroment.

So, anyone else out there who was using comixpedia should be informed that all their hard work on creating a page on said site has now gone to waste.

Sounds like the domain lapsed and a squatter snapped it up.

In the words of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: "Don't panic!"

Josh Roberts owns and runs the excellent OnlineComics.net listings site and the even more wonderful ComicSpace networking site. I'd be surprised, therefore, if his intentions towards the Comixpedia wiki were anything other than entirely honourable!

I have one comic listed at the wiki and, since Josh took over the running (and ownership?) of Comixpedia.org, I've received several emails from him prompting me to create entries for some others that he already knows I'm associated with. (I haven't done anything about it yet - I'm lazy like that!)

If the site is still down, I'd assume Josh is currently sorting out hosting and/or design issues. If his other sites are anything to go by, it'll be back bigger and better before you know it!

DAJB, you're right. I emailed Josh last night, and now comixpedia is back up and running. I guess it was due to a domain change and some overhauling. It just seemed to disappear without warning that seemed so odd, and the claim on the page that someone had purchased the domain name.

Yeah, I feel now that it's back, it's going to be on-par with Josh's other sites, and they are quite an example of some excellent work.
