Oh, that's what TAE did to me.... except that my drawing skills at the time the concept came into my head made me feel as though I just wouldn't do the idea any justice on my own. Still, I'm finding ways to practice my artwork so that maybe someday, I'll be able to do an entire webcomic on my own. :3

I've always drawn anyway...
Asterix gave me some little inspiration way back when though.
In the last 6 years or so Ghost in the Shell and Tank girl showed me the way in comics.

I can't attribute it to any one comic really. I remember one of the first webcomics I read was Residence Life. It was a solid comic, but then one day just dissappeared completely.

No one comic really gave me the will to draw. I drew from very early on but I will say is that sailor moon is what got me into the manga style and actually doing comics. I drew marvel and disney characters a lot before that but never made a comic with them.

I read Superman from the 1950's back when I was a kid. That was good stuff. It had a magical sense of adventure to it that these comics geared toward teens today don't have. Sure, the writing is better but it doesn't have the simplicity.

TinTin is great. Herge is amazing at world building. Currently comics like Hellboy have me really interested. But if I were to pick up one comic which I could study for a long time I would pick Alan Moore and Dave Gibbon's Watchmen.

I used to be really into Fine Arts and painting and portraiture and realism (up until maybe three or four months ago), and then my brother made me watch Naruto, which is what inspired my comic. The richness and vividness of each character, rather than the action scenes, were what compelled me to draw manga. (That may be why even though I'm 100 pages in, no one's been assassinated yet in "Misfit Assassins"... dang it.) I especially liked how each character, no matter how minor, had a detailed past and realistic motives. There was this one guy from Orochimaru's team (the sound village) during the Chuunin exams, and even though he was only in like one or two episodes, he made an impact on me! It was the guy who lost to Shino! with the broken arms! T_T. pobrecito.

Definitely Sailor Moon for me. XD That might be a little obvious, though. This is probably going to sound bad, but Megatokyo as well. I never knew webcomics existed; I ran into MT on accident and was all. "Hey! I can do that!" I still read it now and again.

Acid Zen Wonder Paint.

Well, that's what inspired me to start a webcomic in a simple style. As for ... drawing? In general, I've just always had an urge to draw. Mother is artistic, got me in art lessons early...Stylistically, I guess my roots go way back to Pokémon and Digimon...but more obviously Invader ZIM. There are still tiny traces of Vasquez's style in my characters.

Well, it aren't comics that gave me the will to draw, it were cartoons. Especially the Looney Tunes-stuff. After that most of the Cartoon Network cartoons became my sources of inspiration, like Dexter's Lab and Cow and Chicken (wich are still incredibly awsome). Comics that were truly an inspiration must have been Calvin & Hobbes and Donjon (by Joan Sfar and Lewis Trondheim). Now the comics that make me really want to draw again come from Jhonen Vasquez and Doug TenNapel. And of course also just reading most of the stuff here on DD ;)

I love Doug TenNapel! His illustrations are so well crafed and loose at the same time, and his story development is fantastic (if a little too structured and predictable at times). He's so good that I almost don't care when he uses comicss as a backdoor way to spread his religous beliefs...

sorry to diverge from the subject, but every time I hear about megatokyo (which is supposedly like THE webcomic) I hear disparaging remarks, or apologies like anystar's. why does everyone hate on megatokyo? (I've never read it, fyi.)

My drawing style has actually originated from James from Team Rocket (Pokemon!).

What got me into web-comics was CAD comic, but VG Cats made me go on the double D. Mainly because he made a link to this zany place.

I've always drawn but the work that got me into drawing comics was actually the second volume of Tokyopop's "Rising Star of Manga" Series. After that I bounced from one webcomic site to another until I found myself on DD. The stuff I read now though is Ultimate X-men, Ultimate Spider-Man, Sin City, Dramacon, Hellsing, Rurouni Kenshin, Naruto, Applegeeks, Chugworth Academy, a huge list of things on DD, and Megatokyo.

Yeah, I love it as well. The whole religous-thing doesn't bother me too much. Creature Tech simply WAS about religon, and I actually just liked that. A story about a man finding his religon and starts believing, wrapped in a monster tale. However I did not like that with Tommysaurus Rex. A tale of a boy and a dinosaur that's actually about friendship and forgiveness.... didn't work out that well. But Iron West doesn't contain any source of religous message I believe, it's just a cool and western, and I like that about that one. Just adventerous without having to 'Be' about something.
The one I like the most is Earthboy Jacobus. This comic does have a lot of double layers and bible references, but at this one I kind of ignore it and just enjoy the great adventure/art and fantasies. I do like the sharp look at society this book has (especially the part where you see what the kids learn at school).

I totally forgot to mention Earthworm Jim (just to stay ontpic)! This is another cartoon that really gave me the will to draw! It's also from Tennapel and it's total craziness, loved it back then and I remember spending much time drawing all the characters (I belive the Psycrow was my favorite :D )

Dragonball/Z. Then I had stopped, and then Naruto gave me the will to draw some more. But DBZ got me into the mood of drawing anime. And Naruto got me into the mood of drawin comics.

What comic gave me the will to draw?

Seriously, I have no comic that I looked at and said, "I must now do my own comic". I got the idea of a comic after reading a couple Electronic Gaming Monthly's Hu and Chan comics. They were hilarious to me, and I thought I could do a comic about games as well.

That was when I was about 15 and couldn't draw to save my own life. Now I'm 17 years old and working on my own gaming comic. So, I have to say Hu and Chan as my "inspiration".
I'm with ZAC!!

Two movies did it to me. The first on started me drawing.
Terminator 2: Judgement day

I started trying to draw terminator skeletons. this was at age 9

My first drawing though (which my dad still has) Was drawn when i was only 3 years old. and it was of a christmas tree.

What made me start doing comics was The movie Jurassic park.

It made me think of a wierd story having to do with a pink cat that could change his form into anything and he started fighting dinosours.

thats my inspiration i think.

I've always loved to draw. But the one thing that gave me the will, want, and passion to create stories. Is Princess Mononoke. An amazing movie that just lit the match.

Other comics help to keep me going. I get inspired to work on my own creations when I look at others.

Comics
Megatokyo
Love Hina
Fullmetal Alchemist
Nausicca of the valley of the wind
ghost in the shell(the first manga)
flipside
9th elsewhere
one piece
I can't think of anything else right now.

It was a long time ago - it was probably Sailor Moon. Though I remember Magic Knight Rayearth really inspired me when MixxZine first came out.
