Inspired by the c&a thread, pretty simple really just do what fanboys the world over do but for your(or other DD) comic(s).

Do what you ask? cast the film or Tv series of your comic. I bet Nathan Fillion comes up at least once.

So to start this stuff off...

Malefic (only doing some as it has a massive cast)

Greg played by Jared Padalecki

Dan played by either a fat Rupert Grint or James Corden

Toby played by Tyrese Gibson
Vanessa played by Kelly Hu
Claire played by Jewel Staite
Vicky played by Eliza Dushku
Norman played by Hugh Laurie

As for other DD comics...

I think Rupert Grint would be a shoe in for Roscoe from Ax Crazy.
Mark Addy as arturos from Shades.
Garfield as Sir muir from harkovast.

I think
Mark Addy as arcturus from Shades.

The role of Arturos is taken, I'm afraid! I based his speech patterns on Brian Blessed (in full-on "Vultan, King of the Hawkmen" mode) and - working only from my character descriptions - Nickel's drawings actually made him look similar too!

As for the others in Shades , well, there are too many but here are my suggestions for the main good guys!

Somebody (Abt_Nihil, I think) once asked me who I would cast as Boo. It took me a while to come up with a name but I finally chose Geena Davis. Based on her performance in The Long Goodnight, I think she has the range to handle the action scenes, the mischievous humour and the more caring side of Boo's nature. Although I doubt she'd agree to wear the costume!

For The Shaman you'd need someone who doesn't mind being naked for most of the film! I don't know if he'd do it but I think his other-worldly delivery and strangely-somewhere-else eyes would make John Malkovich a good choice.

There are a lot of British actors who could probably play Doug as a typical, old school RAF officer but very few who could bring some individual personality to the role at the same time. I'd like to see David Tennant give it go. We know he can do quirky and he was pretty old school as the pre-WW1 teacher Mr Smith in the Doctor Who episodes Human Nature and Family of Blood.

As the heart of the book, Stan would be the key role that you'd have to get right. I'm thinking maybe Bernard Hill. He can play both ordinary man-in-the-street and, as in LotR, carry himself with enormous dignity.

Frank (the taxi driver) is a minor role but could be a good cameo for a big name like Bob Hoskins or Michael Caine.

Not if I'm casting, no! To me, Jude Law is just the latest in a long line of British actors who get work because they look pretty and have a posh accent. I think he has all the acting talent of a 2 by 4!

I vaguely remember answering a question like this before and I'm almost certain I said Michael Keaton should play Evil Snowman. I still stand by that decision!
As for Boris, well since I see a trend going on with you Genejoke, I would have to say a mini Rupert Grint should play him!

As for the rest of my comics, I would cast only reality TV stars.

Personally I think David Tennant is a one trick pony, panto style wide eyed crazy insane. In Harry Potter and the goblet of fire he got acted off the screen by Daniel Radcliffe of all people. He was okay for doctor who but nothing else I have seen him in has been up to much.

Pinky should be played by Vin Diesel.
Cc should be played by Jude Law.
Ace should be played by Angelina Jolie!!!

...Or
- Pinky played by Lori Petti, Franka Potente... not sure. I know! Clauia Black!
- Cc... maybe Angelina Jolie... maybe. I dun like her, but she could fit anyway.
- Ace Kincaid played by Owen Wilson or Matthew McConaughey. I can't decide.

Yup! TankGirl petti.
Potente is cool and with a marvellous accent too, but Claudia Black also has the perfect nose shape and a nice angular face...

Man, this is fun!

For Shaman Quest, I guess I'll had a tough time trying to cast somebody who not only could act, but also look the physical part.

Specially considering the looks of certain characters, I'll probably would end casting a lot of Pro-Wrestlers or MMA Fighters.

Well, quick roll call for the current saga so far, some of this kinda look like the characters and at least know how to act in this type of story:

Cyrus -Paul London (Pro Wrestler, but the way he cuts promos are similar to Cyrus' attitude) [upload.wikimedia.org]
Mia -Karen Gillian (Doesn't have the same physique, but hell does she have the face!)
Bugg -Andy Pessoa
Eakis -voiced by Rob Paulse (Yakko Warner)
Dex -voiced by Jess Harnell (Wakko Warner)
Lena -Haley King , thought of Taylor Momsen, but too tall and too annoying in her acting...
Korrigan -Matt Morgan
Caspius -Djimon Hounsou [upload.wikimedia.org]
Yugga -Ray Park [blueharvest.net]
Marshall Deckard -Angelina Jolie [topnews.in] (Half of the budget for the show blown up there...but can't think on anybody else)
Captain Harrington -Emily Deschanel
Sgt. Hicks -Michael Jai White
Big Boss -Peter Weller [posters.ws]
Mr. Conway -David Boreanaz

Actually, there is a character that should be portrayed by Nathan Fillon and other modeled after Freema Agyeman (the only one modeled after a celebrity so far), but none of them has appeared in the comic yet.

For Underbelly,

Frank Marshall could be played by Chris pine

Marie could be played by Carey Mulligan

Miranda is tough, need and a heavy set actress with a face like a pitbull and a decent rack.

Shades cast

I love all of your choices; I'd especially like to see Bernard Hill as Stan and John Malkovich as The Shaman! (And yes, it was me who asked about who should play Boo :3)

I don't have a definite cast for any of my comics save Bombshell. Several characters were actually created with specific actors in mind (the problem is, most haven't appeared in the comic yet :/). The problem is, I don't see any contemporary actress who could play the main part. Those who've got the acting capabilities lack the physical capabilities, and vice versa. The only perfect choice for Bombshell I can imagine would be a younger Jennifer Connelly. Look at her in Dark City: That's exactly when she should have played the part.

(Here's a fake Bombshell movie poster I made featuring Jennifer Connelly... and another one with Alison Lohman playing the villain ^_^)

Speaking of Alison Lohman, she had flaming red hair in Where The Truth Lies, so I'd also love to see her play Naomi from A.D 1997. (Although she might also be too old now >.<)

After watching Inception, I thought it would be interesting to cast Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Ed from signifikat. I'm not sure about that though, I'd really like to see some screen tests before settling on him first :D

Speaking of signifikat, I think Fitz suggested both Scarlett Johansson and Hayden Pannettiere for the role of Sunhra... he may also have suggested Hayden for playing Naomi (see above). I don't have an opinion on Hayden, and I wasn't a fan of Scarlett's performance in Iron Man 2 so... again, I'd need to see some screen tests :D

Nora (also from signifikat) was based on Nora Tschirner, so that's a no-brainer.

I'm not thinking of any potential cast for Holon... I just don't like to think of it as a movie right now. I'm quite satisfied with thinking of it as a comic ^_^

Hah.

As I've only started, and the two main characters so far are the bread and the butter of my series, I don't know yet who to cast as the voice actors. I'd have to get someone who can deliver a good Cockney accent, and nothing too deep a British for Vinnie.

I'll get back to you on this.

Well, since the characters of Last Of The Wilds are all animals, I'll go with voice actors here lol.

Pippin: I'm not sure who I'd choose, but when I asked my readers, someone suggested Daniel Radcliffe, and I have to say I've got no major objections there.

Coryn: I'd say David Tennant. Come on, a wolf with a Scottish accent? Cool or what?! :)

Shandi: Absolutely no idea! If anyone else has any ideas, I'd love to hear them!

With a lot of make-up and prosthetics, I'm sure people could act the alien characters of Quest For Zanvadas. I just don't know who I'd want to play them!

yeah, I always thought Bones was based on dave mustaine

From Project GTH, I'd have to say for Lucy it would probably be Olga Kurylenko. Although I've been told she kinda resembles Shirley Manson

And for my main villain up till now General Ulises I'd have to say Michael Jai White. Despite he's not the same skin tone as the character. He has a similar look in his eyes

I have always liked Aaron Eckhart for Fudo . Really a good fit, imo.

And Sandra Bullock for Kaida . (She might not be badass enough, but she has a good range, and Kaida is prone to crazy mood swings from violent to mopey.)

I don't know about the rest of the cast, though. Most of them are younger, and I don't know younger actors very well.

If I had the time to do some quick animations on Flash MX with my characters, I totally would've. Maybe in the future. But for now, I came up with some ideas both for a movie version of my comic (I'd like it animated by Disney, without a doubt... and I'd like to be creative consultant. xD) and a television spin-off. Watching the movies I got and know, along with voice clips at a poor attempt at animating the two main leads at the moment, I've come to these conclusions.

I'll ask my friend on IM to see what she thinks. ^^

Film Version:

Dick van Dyke as Patrick. Genejoke mentioned that Pat's speak sounded quite like it, and after checking this out, I'd say it's perfect. xD Unless I can track down the kid who voiced the Artful Dodger in this Canadian cartoon adaptation I've got of Oliver Twist on DVD, he too would be great. *goes to look this up* I mention the kid mostly in part because it's more sensible as opposed to Dick's; kind of a letdown that the audio masters who transferred my cartoon onto DVD that his voice is nearly sublimed and hard to hear, but it's audible enough to be understood. Not as thick as Dick's and a nice alternative.

Reason being it's loud, it's crazy, and Dick's exploding personality fits the bill for what I've got in mind. For a movie in which I want it to be an action/adventure picture with comedy and romance blended in, Dick's energy fits perfectly.

Steve Buscemi as Vinnie

He's got that... frail, sort of voice. Patrick being the most outspoken commentator out there and 'out for some', Vinnie's the more sensible one. This .wav sums it about up about Vinnie. And this line here . It's got a nice twang to it, a little feeble and curious. Work that into someone who's Pat's voice of reason, and it fits.

=-=-= TV Series =-=-=

Supposing I get this, I'd like to experiment with the concept of having a female be Patrick's voice. If it worked for Ash of Pokemon and that of Son Goku with no such complaint, I see no problem having Bonnie Langford do his voice. She was quite sound as 'Rumpelteazer' from the Cats musical - why not? Deepen it a little, and I think it could work. An alternate for me? Whoever voices most of Michael J. Fox's animated characters.

Bonnie:

David Kaufman (alternative)

(to pair him up with Cathy Cavadini again, who voiced Tanya Mousekewitz, would be epic sauce. Both played Marty/Jennifer in the animated series, respectfully)

-- And, to voice Vinnie... --

Jim Cummings. Accept no substitute. I can name many I particularly enjoyed with his voice - from SWAT Kats, The Pagemaster, Bonkers D. Bobcat, but I think... he shines the most here for Vinnie's voice as for Vinnie.

Another alternative would be Frank Welker, the original Fred from 'Scooby-Doo' (and usually the only one who returns to play as Fred no matter WHAT incarnation Scooby gets), would be another. I'd be looking for more of the same from Buscemi in the film version, but to the best of their ability. If it ain't perfect, eh, no matter. After all, sometimes I figure Kaufman's Marty McFly voice was kinda... nasally whiney, nerdish, for some reason, at some points.

Hehee this is fun to read & I'm loving all the choices. :D ASlot of characters are still to be revealed so I won't pick lot.

I'm horrible at Casting, but heres my takes on who should be cast for the character roles of my Beast Legion Comic

Xeus by Ben Barnes. I loved his role as Prince Caspian & I think he would do great. Not many come to mind though I'm open to Opinions.

Dragos definitley going with Daniel Craig. His personality would fit Dragos perfectly.

Fyre(not appeared in the manga yet) , probably by Scarlet Johanson or Rachel wiese.

Stampede ...probably Wrestler Bill Goldberg. He's got decent acting skills.

The only person I can imagine playing Deimos would have to be Ron Pearlman (readers of All Saints will know I've mentioned this before, more than once). Granted, anyone playing him would be required to wear a mask and a lot of make-up (hell, maybe even animate or CGI the whole thing), but he would at least have to do the voice-acting for him. No one else has that gravely, world-weary. "I've seen it all" quality to their voice that Ron Pearlman has.
