Here is the pitch I made that made the Top 50. Thanks to my artist, JC Grande, and letterer, Brant Fowler. I owe them everything.

It was eating me inside to keep quiet, I knew about my placement for a bit.

So yeah, I move on, it's a real shame most of you didn't. :(

Good luck guys, even if you did't make it, pursue those projects anyway!

Well... we didn't make it. Too bad... I did see a couple of names that I connected, I think, with usernames in this forum... mrgranger? sdulaney? Were those your names on the list, or another granger and another dulaney?

Congrats to those of you who made it! Good luck, and we'll definitely be following the competition to see who wins!

EDIT: Not to worry... we are NOT giving up. Erick is still working on the art, and I'm still scripting the issues. We're going to have a lot of material very soon to start shopping around to publishers! Onward!

GregPhillips, Troybowen, MrGranger, hpkomic, sdulaney, congrats to all of you! (Sorry if I missed anyone... please, feel free to point out my oversight and smack me on the back of the head!) While I haven't yet looked at troybowen's pitch, the ones I HAVE seen off here that made it don't surprise me in the least. I've seen some great artwork and good pitches on here! Makes me want to start working on our entry for next year right now... LOL

I guess now we need a new thread so we can start a discussion of the top 50 entrants and their pitches... help them build up a good amount of talk before the public voting starts for the top 10!

Don't feel bad I didn't either. As soon as I figure out how to get my art up with my post I'll share it. I don't know if anyone noticed but a couple of winners this year already made it last year. If they are that good I don't understand why they can't get work outside the challenge?

Small world...small booth...what's the diff? :)

Congrats to all. If anyone is needing help finding a hotel room here at the last minute, send me a PQ. I have a buddy who's got a room at the Holiday Inn Express but his rommates backed out on him. If he hasn't already found somebody, he might be able to help some CBC qualifiers.

Take a gander and let your mind wander... then let me know what you think.

My comic is A Ninja Named Stan and it is drawn by the talented Delia Gable.

Have you ever met someone that you instantly clicked with, even though it was someone you'd never expect? The four issue romantic comedy adventure mini-series,
A Ninja Named Stan, follws the tale of two strange lost souls in that exact situation.

Andrea Zuwowski has never taken life too seriously. Up until last year, she spent most of her time on men and activities that would anger her strict Trinidadian born mother. She even joined the NYPD specifically because her mother forbade it. Because of her initial lack of respect for the job, Andrea has been stuck with the worst duties the NYPD has to offer. Lately she’s been trying to change, but just can't get a break at work or in life. Stuck directing traffic, living at home with her family, and constantly meeting the wrong men, Andrea wonders if life will ever change.

Then one day while on duty, she comes across a bizarre man in a black hood claiming to be a ninja detective. In reality he is Stanley Kidderick, a man who had the life he built taken away from him six months ago. Stan was fired after five years as head programmer and divorced by his wife after finding her in bed with another man. He coped by convincing himself his life was destroyed because he was meant to fight crime as a ninja detective. To hide from his pain, Stan wears a ninja mask and focuses his energy on his private investigation business.

Intrigued by Stan's oddness, Andrea pursues him and the two develop an initial spark. Meanwhile Stan has been working the biggest case of his life, bringing Erik Wrathborne, New York's most notorious and elusive burglar, to justice. Stan has uncovered Erik's hidden location and asks Andrea to help him as he attempts to catch Erik in his own warehouse. Against her better judgment Andrea decides not to miss this chance for the ultimate bust and agrees. The pair breaks in and is separated when Stan is taken captive. Inspired by Stan's confidence in her, Andrea saves the day by rescuing Stan while catching Erik and finding the evidence to put him away.

At the conclusion of the story, Andrea and Stan realize that during their time together, their spark has developed into something more. Against his wishes, Andrea finally gets to see Stan’s face while rescuing him and calms his fears about not having his mask by kissing him. Andrea receives a promotion at work and Stan is able to take off his ninja mask... for short periods of time.

On a side note, I live in NY and I thought I was coming a long way for the CBC, but it looks like people are coming from a lot further away, eh?

Good luck everybody.

Mike

Curious, how on earth did you decide to name a black character Zuwowski?

Story sounds interesting though. The art looks at least as good as the other stuff platnium publishes.
