Dark Chamber
Here is our (Dan -n- Brando's)submission.

Cool...thanks for sharing. I'm getting a 70's film feel to that. Some of my favorite films.

the quality of submissions this year definitely seems to be top-shelf. I was secretly hoping everybody elses's would be terrible. No such luck. Here's my pitch.

Deep in a valley amongst the mist-enshrouded mountains of Asia existed a group of rabbits trained in the martial arts. They had been in self-imposed isolation for centuries when a decision was made to re-establish contact with the outside world. An ambassador was sent forth and the report he brought back shook the rabbits to their core. Though their legends told of great rabbit civilizations where honor and wisdom were cornerstones, their ambassador brought back tales of tall creatures called "humans", and the human's ceaseless wars, cruelties and tyrannies.
Among the masters, a decision was made. With no insight as to how the world was reduced to this barbaric state, the rabbits took it upon themselves to fix it. From among their most promising young bunnies, one would be chosen to go out into the world and set things right. He would be the most superbly trained warrior that they had ever produced. He would be a friend to the friendless, a comfort to the comfortless, a protector of the innocent and a punisher of evildoers. Through the discerning use of his fighting skills in the cause of honor, he would become an example of compassion and judgement for all the world to see. He would be all that was once great about the rabbit civilization and a distillment of all the wisdom they had accumulated during their exile.
That young bunny went forth and became known to men as Kung Fu Rabbit. World renowned as a champion of the oppressed, he came into contact with foes both great and small. The years rolled on and it became apparent that the mission had just begun. The warrior's mission would outlive him. So the search began to find another young bunny that would replace the aging warrior, and keep the tradition alive.
Our story picks up when the young rabbit has finished his training at the feet of the original Kung Fu Rabbit and assumed the mantle of his predecessor. The world has not seen a rabbit defender in almost 5 years, and though trained by the master, he finds he has some big shoes to fill. He has inherited loyal allies, and deeply committed foes. He is still young and prone to the impulsive, ill-thought out decisions of youth. He struggles to balance the wisdom of his teacher with the moment to moment decisions he must make as the Kung Fu Rabbit. He has a tendency to actively seek out those who he feels have disgraced rabbit kind, and engage them in singular combat. By disgracing them, he hopes to punish them. Whether or not this is an effective strategy is a recurring theme in the story.
Unbeknownst to our young protagonist, there remains a rabbit empire of sorts in the form of the shadowy clandestine organization known as H.A.R.E. The re-emergence of a rabbit champion has not gone unnoticed by this malevolent association and it's secretive Director. Possessing a worldwide network of agents both rabbit and human, they stand prepared to bring the full brunt of their influence against Kung Fu Rabbit should his efforts threaten their plans for global domination.
In addition to benefiting from the many allies made by his master, early on in his quest, Kung Fu rabbit befriends a young actress named Gwendolyn Andrews after "rescuing" her from her "attackers" while on a movie set. Along with her husband Samuel, Gwendolyn offers Kung Fu Rabbit shelter, gives insight into human behavior, and tries to occassionally protect him from himself.

RabbitMaster, if you haven’t already seen it go out and get the animated movie Watership Down. I think it’s right up your alley. Better yet go to www.imdb.com and search the title you might like what you find.

Later!

Ack! 24 hours left! One day!

Like mrkrinkle said, we've got a lot of ideas and opportunities that we can explore for publishing our concept, and I'm definitely with him... those ideas are exciting to me. But none of them are as IMMINENT as the challenge. So I can't help but be excited!

I'd imagine they wouldn't want anyone announcing before they announce it themselves?

thats a good point, though i dont see the harm in saying, "YAY I MADE IT." Not all 50 people post here.

I hear what your saying though. I just want to know when the people start getting called. If nobody gets called on the 18th that will make me feel better than if 10 people on this site got called and I didnt :(

I figured they'd send out 50 e-mails simultaneously, and then post a list at the website. Never can tell, though... and if I make it, I'm posting here as soon as I find out!! LOL

yeah, they could do the email thing. They asked for our phone numbers though so I'm thinking they are going to call. I'm going to be calling home while at work to see if anybody's called. gah.

Bushido, thanks for the correction. For those of you that read my reply, I thought HeroScribe was offering his "QueerBait" comic as the pitch, and I was confused. Now that Bushido set me straight (bad pun intended), I can't say I have much to say except thanks, Bushido.

I'd imagine any who was selected would be asked to not mention anything, so maybe that's why nobody has mentioned making it into the top 50?

All will be clear tomorrow I'm sure.

Oh well, didn't make the top 50. But congrats to everyone that did!

On the brightside this contest made me think of a story I really like and want to develop and it's helped me begin to polish up my latent art skills.

I for one and going to work on a webcomic of my story and want to start posting it on DD.
Who knows maybe it will catch someone's eye.

I look forward to seeing all of the winners and getting in on the vote.
