For a stickied thread this discusion moves sloooooooooooooooooowwww...
Well really, how much can anyone really say about this? B&W and color are equally valid forms, and which is better completely depends on the specific project and artist. Saying anything else is pointless generalization. Why is this even stickied?

cause there's been 5 other threads made about it in the past. at least people won't keep making new threads about it now that this is at the top

B&W is usally more relaxed, easy on the eyes, easy to read, good story, faster updates. color ones take to long, most times I don't like the story (there I said it!) and half the time I don't even like the style.
Color is good if you can hack it a good example would be - Inverloch or Brink)
Black & White - Misfile/and or Megatokyo or Walking with a Ghost/and or Wasteland)
again, as everyone else has been saying, it always depends on the mood and style.

I'm a B&W dude myself.
I grew up on newspaper comics and now my fav. comics are in black and white. Now, I'll read a coloured one, but it just doesn't seem very necessary to me.

As far as drawing goes, I actually much prefer coloring a piece over doing it in black and white-- not only because it really does help take attention away from subpar line art, but also because it's easier for me to picture in my head. I see and think in color, and I still haven't really gotten used to shifting gears in my head and desaturating scenes that I've planned out.
One thing that I haven't really seen much of on DD is spot color-- using only one or two particular hues of color mixed in with black and white. I suppose that, for beginners, it's either use the entire spectrum or nothing. Doesn't that strike you as odd?

Well, it's not surprising that people have trouble successfully using spot color, really. It's the same idea as placing a tiny object on a large (otherwise empty) canvas; if done wrong, it just looks weird, but if done correctly it looks awesome. Simplicity is much harder than it looks, lol.
