Aw, man! I want to play that game so badly! The only problem is that I have to pay monthly for it!

Is it good? It is good, right?

It's fun. The nice thing about it compared to other MMOs is that it's generally easier to play it casually; it's fairly easy to get around and since most missions require help joining a group is a lot simpler than in most MMOs. It's also got a lot of ways to level up quick, which is odd for any MMO. The problem, though, is that it gets a bit repetitive, since nearly all the missions are the same "run somewhere and punch a guy", with the occasional "grab something while you're there" mixed in for flavor. It's not very immersive, really, though a new patch they came out with helps give you more stuff to do.

The character creation part is easily the most impressive I've seen in an MMO. I think a big part of it is that you create your entire costume from scratch, instead of most games where you essentially design your face and you have to earn your way to a cool outfit. In general I'd say this game does a good job of masking how "pathetic" (comparatively) you are at the start of the game. Even at the earliest levels you can easily take on groups of people equal level to you. It helps ease the "newb" depression you can get in a lot of MMOs.

I was playing it recently, since I had gotten my hands on a free copy and was just going to play through the free month, but when my brother found out I had enough time to be playing an MMO he insisted I play World of Warcraft, which he was nice enough to pay for. Overall I like WoW more, but as far as MMOs go City of Heroes/Villains is still high up on the list, and easily more straight out fun.

In my opinion, the community in CoH is fairly mature in comparison to other MMOs, so theres a lot less "omg, noobz lolol!!11" and crap like that...having recently played a night elf on wow, it is seriously refreshing to see players who I wouldn't want to punch if I ever walked across them on the street.

And yeah, as Inkmonkey said, its really easy to play casually, you also tend to meet up with a lot more people who play for fun rather then powerlevel, which means to tend to find far more social and forgiving groups rather then those who kick you for the tiniest mistake.

But yeah, I think its a great game and its probably the only MMO that I could be bothered paying monthly for rather then stopping after my trail period ends.

Apparently, paying for a game monthly is a stupid idea.

....OK, it is stupid, but I still want it!

I suddenly can't wait until I'm actually living on my own.

I can't help but to agree with Inkmonkey's review of the game. Everything about it scream "revolutionary", but the gameplay itself is basically one battle after the next. Unlike WOW, you don't have items to collect, and unlike planetside, every victory doesn't help your faction. It's basically "fight, fight, level, fight, die." And let me tell you that later, the game basically wants you left nut, and other vital organs in order to level. Some of the exp caps range in the millions to reach the next level.
