I don't care what most of you guys who hated Arkham in this thread say, tell me this would not make for a killer CGI film:
The book was creepy, although it did think very highly of it's self, I'll admit. But I think given a different media outlet it seems more like batman, something the book was missing.

Basically, print comics are created in majority by corporations out to make a buck. Therefore they'll have their writers create stories that are meant to sell, not necessarily stories that are GOOD. Just like movies in Hollywood.
On the web, since almost all the comickers online create their comic THEMSELVES, they're self-editing (with some taking into account the feedback they get). They don't have a big boss telling them what to make.

Well, a majority of the suck comes from mainstream comics. You have these never ending comics with characters that never age and over 600 issues of backstory, so after a while they start to run dry.
If you want good writing, then it's indy comics that you want. That's were most of the good, original stories come from. A good example off the top of my head is Scott Pilgrim by Brian O'malley.

I completely agree that most Print comics are crap. Marvel and DC writers just don't seem to have any real skill as writers. Characters are all flat, and the even a lot of the art lately looks too obviously photoreferenced. HOWEVER there are exceptions.
Ex Machina, by Brian K. Vaughn, is an AWESOME political comic. Then there's Sandman Mystery Theater, from the 90's, which is awesome. Superman: Birthright is great, as is Superman: Secret Identity. Batman: The Long Halloween is also awesome, although the writer of that became a bad writer after he wrote that and one other book.
And then of course there's Alan Moore's Watchmen as an example of what comics can become when they're treated seriously. Moore hoped his work would end superhero comics permanently, but obviously that didn't happen.
But hey, if you want to check out other good comics there's a funny guy named Chris Sims who reviews them every week on http://www.the-isb.com/

The thing is, I'm not trying to just get down one the superhero genre. I like superheros, hell I love 'em. Some of my favorite movies and television shows are about superheros.
I'm more dissapointed than anything else that the quality of writing in a major comic book release isn't on par with the quality of writing on the Justice League on Cartoon Network, which seems like its determined to push the envelope in terms of drama and character development for children's television. Meanwhile you have print comics, which theoretically could push the envelope so much further, and instead just churn out drivel. And worse, drivel that doesn't even make sense

Amen. That Cadmus arc on that show was awesome.
And oh my God but that trailer is perfect! Not only is the animation, timing, music, and choice of scenes great, but the voices are so spot on! That's a fan trailer? Geezus Christ. DC & Warner Bros should give that guy $100 million dollars to make something and I'd bet it'd be a hundred times better than "The Dark Knight".
