Can Batman be destroyed by conventional methods?

Ever notice how Batman just can never freakin' die?! He's tangled with guys like Superman, The Hulk, Darkseid, and he always manages to make it out alive where as any other non-superpowered human would've been a stain on the floor afterwards. Yet, it seems the villains he has the most problems with are one with minimal or no powers at all. You always hear about how if someone like Wolverine could get the drop on him, and if Batman didn't have time to prepare for them, that they would kill him. But the point is he always seems prepared! This is the guy who always carries a chunk of Kryptonite in his utility belt whenever he goes out on just the 0.02% chance Superman might go rogue and decide to be in Gotham that night. With all the stiffs that piled up from the whole Infinite Crisis fiasco, Batman again made it through unscathed, despite goine missing for a year. I know he's one of the "Big 3" and everything. But, geez! Give a run-of-the-mill supervillain a chance!

That's what being a super rich porn addict does for you... He's invincible.
But you know the best batman will always be Adam West. All his enemies on the show were normal people, so his constant survival made more sense.

That's why they had to give him an electrocuting powerglove and more exploding stuff in Justice League.
Still, the Joker could probably get the drop on almost any superhero. He's just that cool. You need brains to be able to beat him.

Joker melted Alexander Luthor's face off in Infinite Crisis, just for leaving him out of the plan.
Anyway, Batman has to remain alive or be discarded forever. If you bring back someone like Batman - who not only relies on his being a regular human, but also the fact that he CAN get out of any situation - then you make him into a farce. Its a slippery slope to trash once you kill and ressurect a comic character.

The reason I don't like Batman is because he never dies. Practicly every superhero has died, and these are people with Super powers. Batman may have been trained up the wazoo, but he's in his, what, thirties? Frankly, that means his body's just going to begin to fail, and in all honesty, if he began to train in his twenties, that's still not an overwhelming amount of martial arts skills. We are assuming he has been running a business in this time period, right? That's ten years of sprodic kung fu. My brain is screaming Not Feasible!
Of course, I would be willing to overlook all of this if he had had the decency to die once in a while.

Well actually, the original Golden Age Batman from Earth-2 did die. Course he was in his 50s by then. As for anything with Dark Knight Returns, that Batman is so utterly removed from the level of normal comic book physics it's just crazy. There's no way the Batman from DK2 who was in his 70s by then could've been that good. At least without using something like the Venom drugs or something.

It all has to do with badassitude. There's a reason that Superman can get punched through an entire city by some guy when he has the power to punch holes in planets (or whatever crazy overpowered stuff he can do). However Batman can still flip him over into a table because Batman knows Judo, and because he's also way more badass than Superman.

I'm not arguing that Batman isn't "Bad-ass". I just think that, conceptually, he is a bit of weak character. He's fundementally a boy with seperation issues due to the death of his parents. I just think a little death of his own would inspire him and make him more human and thus easier to relate to.

what? If he died I don't think he would be very inspired by the event. If your talking a death of someone close to him it has already been done in The Killing Joke.... where the Joker murders Robin in front of Batman. Not to mention the whole parents murdered in front of him thus inspiring a lifetime crusade against evil wrongdoers and such....

If he does die and come back, though, then that's just going to strengthen the "Batman can't die" thing, or at the very least, "If you kill Batman it doesn't matter". The only way Batman dying would have any impact is if he stays dead, and if that's the case then it's not going to help him do anything for long.

Or if Bats were to meet with a Deus Ex Machina type thing, like Superboy-Prime's "punching" the timestream into submission allowing Jason Todd to come back to life as the Red Hood.
On Ceaser Romero as Joker, if the accident that made the Joker's hair on his scalp green, wouldn't it turn his facial hair green too?

Yeah, but Joker also wore a MASK around his eyes in that movie.

It's a well-known fact that you can't kill Batman. He could survive a nuclear blast on his badassedness alone while every single Robin and Batwoman ever created melt around him. He's just that awesome.

Batman could be killed if he decided to take his own life. But he may be so bad ass that he would stop himself from doing it before he even got a chance to know that he was going to get him.

Why the sarcasm? That's completely true!
Force of habit in forum posting. I was afraid some asshat was going to take it too seriously.

Batman's been killed before. It just depends on who's writing him. It seems like most writers for Superman and JLA have a major hard on for him though and have him be the hero in a comic that he's not even supposed to be in.
Thats because he's the god damn batman.

It's like this with Joker too. When Joker joins a super villains group, he steals the show.

Batman does have a superpower, his superpower is that DC loves him too much to let him fail

Eventually, they'll probably work it out that Batman actually is some kind of metahuman, but it's on such a minute scale that most people wouldn't register it as a superpower. His power would mentally being able to take down anyone by instantly figuring out their strengths and weaknesses. Sort of like a cerebral bio-scan.

Some people in DC have however gained superpowers just by hanging out with other metahumans. The second(and current)Black Canary gained her Canary Cry power from being in contact with the other members of the Justice Society when she was growing up. Some how, the metahuman gene just seemed to rub off on her after being exposed to all these other metahumans. Since Batman is in Justice League, and deals with a whole lot of other metahumans, magic users, and superpowered aliens, the same thing could happen to him it that theory holds true.
