i'm not sure if this is such a good idea. what if they get loose and eat everything and we drown in crude oil?

LOL we can only be so lucky.
They're not super bacteria, just changed bacteria. Are we currently drowning in whatever carbon chains their natural parent bacteria are producing in the wild? No.

great idea.
Just keep pumping out the alternative technologies to force these oil cartels to lower their prices.

kyupolPrice is more complicated than that man... It's funny when people blame their governments for it though. :)

Seems to be the worst thing in the oil price roundabout is the stock markets and hedgefunds.
People say the oil producers should produce more, but that's not actually going to make it cheaper, it just might convince the market to stop valuing it so high=ly... it could still go way up and meanwhile it just needlessly strains the producers. Big money speculators making money from misfortune over the markets... that's the problem.

What about the DEVALUATION of the US dollar as the reason why the price of oil is high?
Those other factors you mentioned are true though.

Ftttttt. The government is supposed to be for the people. Nothing would ever get done unless we make our argument.
If misdirected blame will get us a better solution then just some bandaids then so be it.

It seems kinda stupid when hydrogen fuel is easier to produce, is better for the environment and will soon become cheaper. http://www.wired.com/science/discoveries/news/2002/08/54456
I say it's about time we cut our dependencey on oil instead of thinking stupid ways to make it.

mishi_himeprobably just bandaids though. That's what governments do when they don't actually have the power to do anything significant about a problem in the short term.

If Hydrogen can be produced simply, then ye. It's way better than making oil.

Governments can only do so much. But the secret government can do it overnight. :)
