don't put down the PS3 if you don't have one please, you really have no idea what you're talking about.

I played the demo, and I was pretty impressed. They left a lot open tho as far as what you could do in the full game, which I will be buying shortly...

I keep hearing a lot of people saying they really like the game. Before I didn't really think twice about it, but now I think I'll just download the demo and check it out.

Fuck yes I love this.

I electrocuted a giant laser blasting panther and then I rode it and shot down a horde of zombie emos. YOU CAN DO THIS HOLY SHIT.

It looks like a good game and a cool concept, but I hate how they made the Glam guy (General Lionwhite) a baddy... And not even the main baddy! And voiced by the Judas Priest guy!
For F*k's sake man...

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah my terrible genre of music was portrayed negatively waaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!
Hey buddy, you should be a Russian Cosmonaut, and here's why.

Custard has a point. Glam is incredibly shitty, so no one in their right mind cares.
EDIT: Also who the fuck self-censors? That sure is METAL :V

You don't know much about music, do you?

No, and I don't really care. Good thing I have Mister Expert on Everything to condescendingly blather on at me about it.

Honestly, why the fuck are you getting so worked up over this? It's a fucking video game. Besides, the main villain is at least six million times more awesome than Lionwhyte anyway. He's voiced by Tim Fucking Curry, for a start. Also you're missing the major I made, that being that Glam is terrible.

I didn't know Lionwhyte was voiced by Judas Priest though. I thought that was the Fire Baron.

Edit: Also because you seemed to miss it: blasting emo zombies with a giant panther that has fucking eye lasers. WHY ARE YOU COMPLAINING?

I could ask you the very same thing. ;)

I just don't get why you're complaining about that, of all things. Where did anyone say that it was completely accurate representation of the history of metal? It's like getting a delicious ice cream sundae and then complaining that the person giving it to you doesn't have complete in depth knowledge of the history of ice cream.

And yet when I do it about this, suddenly it's somehow amazingly wrong? o_O
What is it about this subject that makes it any different to anything else?

Nothing, really. I just like arguing about stupid stuff on the internet. Because I'm a hopeless nerd I suppose. Also, it seemed like a weird thing to complain about.

It does matter anyway, since the main villain is way more badass than Lionwhyte. He casts his spells by turning his heart into a four fretted guitar and then tearing it out of his chest.

Edit: Just found this:

Brutal Legend Wiki
General Lionwhyte, who has "fabulous hair", and his minions are based on the glam metal fad of the 1980s which displaced heavy metal to the disappointment of Schafer and other development team members, and became the opponents of the game

Someone
Being an Admin has this drawback. Thought that was pretty obvious.

Quit making gay exuses. Self-censoring is dumb enough as it is, it's even more retarded in a thread about heavy fucking metal.

Also glam rock is to heavy metal as the gay rodeo is to the rodeo.

glam rock
Glam rock is something totally different. Your musical ignorance offends my soul -_-

You sir, are a musical moron. With that I'm going to have to leave this part of the forums.

-_-

No I know exactly what type of rock I'm talking about. The type that requires you to tuck your balls between your crack like some buffalo bill faggot in order to slide into your tight form fitting spandex. Leave this thread and take your gaybo fantasy rock with you. And I'm sure you're just trying to hold onto small things like some difference between Glam Metal and Glam Rock. They're the same thing, pretty much. Both are just as fagtacular as the next.

wikpedia
Glam rock (also known as glitter rock) is a style that developed in the UK in the post-hippie early 1970s that was "performed by singers and musicians wearing outrageous clothes, makeup, hairstyles, and platform-soled boots."

While I still had fun, it seems a bit over-rated as a game. I mean the whole metal theme was amazing and I loved the story and the characters and everything that wasn't, you know, the game part. It's just like Pyschonauts, because the only reason I really play it is because of the story. Back then I was willing to deal with a dodgy 3d platformer hoarding money so I could move on with the excellent story, and this time I ended up enjoying slaughtering demons until it randomly decided to become an RTS. And then I had to drive around hoarding money so that I could move on with the excellent story. Also just like Pyschonauts, I said fuck it and looked up the ending on youtube, then proceeded to dick around in the crazy awesome world and completely ignore the game part.

Tim should just write comic books or something.

That and I really suck at games.

Oh and glam rock is pretty good as music, but they dressed retardedly.

Yeah, the game itself is ... alright. I guess. The writing is incredible and the setting is just mind blowing, but the actual gameplay is a tad too ambitious for how unpolished it is. It tries to be a driving game and a rhythm game and an action game and it almost succeeds at doing everything at once until... it tries to be an RTS. And that, lads and ladies, is where I got really frustrated with this game. I know Tim Schaffer claims it's not an RTS, but once that section comes up, it pretty well dominates and consumes the remainder of the game.

I mean, a heavy metal based RTS would even be cool. Trying to do RTS things in the middle of what amounted to Guitar Dynasty Warrior Hero sort of grinded on my nerves, though.

So did anyone other than me actually like the RTS parts?

Edit: I just remembered, the RTS parts reminded me a lot of Sacrifice. Heavily simplified, of course, but it had the same 'third person RTS' thing going on.

Exactly. Tim's major flaw if anything is he has so many good ideas, that it feels cluttered. This game's setting was made to be a beat-em-up, and that's how it should have stayed. The solos were cool at first but got really annoying later. Though I did enjoy the driving part since it was mostly optional and still fun. Until of course we had to do an escort mission from Hell, escorting a huge non-stopping vehicle in a car with no control and all the enemies attack from behind you so you have to actually slow down way behind the bus to fight them.

The RTS had no place at all, and was only half finished to begin with. A queue would have been very nice, as well as an option to remove troops. Even then, the concept of flying around slowly to get to your troops so you could command them worked horribly.

If these things were scrapped, maybe more attention could be paid to the fighting part, which was remarkably basic and could have been much better. It was essentially "hit with axe then block and shock people sometimes" aside from a bunch of combos that nobody can ever remember how to work.

Pretty much all the parts in the demo were the most fun I had gameplay wise. Just rent it, the campaign's really short and you can just have fun driving around admiring giant stone guitars.

Loving the art, animation, voicework, and general gameplay. All the units are fun to recruit and talk to. Lots to explore in this game and some very solid use of humor makes me smile.

Hating the living hell out of the RTS mode. Complete clusterf*k. I wouldn't regard the controls as too good either; there's just too much going on in RTS mode to easily use a specific group to much effect.

I'm playing on Normal mode, but it seems like the Black Tears chapter dramatically ramps up the difficulty. Enemies take a ton of hits now, but my troops are suddenly useless and frequently can't counter much of anything anymore. Very frustrating.

"You tell yourself to just
enjoy the process," he added. "That whether you succeed or fail, win or
lose, it will be fine. You pretend to be Zen. You adopt detachment, and
ironic humor, while secretly praying for a miracle."

Yeah, it gets significantly more difficult in the second half. As far as strategy goes, blizting is the only way to go. I tried to do it 'War of Attrition' style... Well, let's just say that was an hour of my life I'll never get back...

I think the thing that bugs me the most is that, if you've played the Demo you're expecting a certiain kind of gameplay and format. But then when that part of the game is finished, the rest wasn't what I expected it to be. Repetitive side quests, frustrating RTS controls, upgrades to both vehcile and character which rarely show any kind of noticable improvement.

Don't get me wrong, I loved the art style, the music, the voice work, and just the whole concept of Brutal Legends. It just the gameplay turned out not to be what I thought it was.

I'm amazed no one's mentioned the "Bring It On Home" solo. That alone ratchets it up a few more levels on my scale of awesome.
