Funniest movie this year (and possibly ever made)! I kid you not! I enjoyed it even more than Clerks 2, and I thought Clerks 2 was great!
Any preconcieved notions you may have about this movie just ignore and go see it. You WILL NOT be dissapointed.
I won't get into any of the scenes... let's just say you may want to look away in some cases, but you won't be able to. EVERYONE in the theatre was laughing, from the start of the movie to the end. It brought tears to our eyes it was so funny.
The only thing I wonder is how much of that stuff was contrived, and how much was 'real'. You'll understand what I mean when you see it.
Amazingly funny, either way! Go see it!

I'm planning on seeing it as soon as possible. Borat is clearly the funniest fictional Kazakhistani dude ever created.

Dude, I smelled comedy gold at a thousand paces. I was laughing at the trailers for it. I was like, "Oh MAN! I gosta see THIS!"

I enjoyed Borat when Cohen did him as part of the Ali G show. Then he was basically using the character as a way to secretly lampoon the people he talked to. Increasingly though, he seems to be just truing it into the old "laugh at the 'racial' stereotype" routine. Instead of making fun of the Jews, Irish, Chinese, or Polish, it's now OK to do it to the people from former Soviet republics like Kazakhstan.
That aspect makes me cringe...
So what is the film like? Is he just making Kazakhs look like inbred, venal, corrupt, primitive, morons, or is it making fun of our own prejudices and preconceived notions about such things?
Or is it like it used to be on the show, where he got into people's confidence as the bumbling foreigner and hilariously got them to admit to the weirdest things?

Damn, why does it have to be rated R? My parents won't let me see those movies... still. I wonder if they'll lighten up if it's comedy that's rated R.
I never saw the trailer, but I did see the movie commercials on TV (While my PS2 was booting) and I was like, "Holy shit, my instincts tell me that I CAN'T ignore this movie." Then there was a brief interview on some news network I catched while flipping channels.
Maybe I'll go watch it this Tuesday. Screw studying for the test. I feel like this is SO going to worth getting a bombed grade.

I'm surprised at all the high-brow acclaim it's gotten from places like the New York Times and Entertainment Tonight, and, most notably, from my local Baltimore Sun's anal-retentive movie critic Michael Sragow. (This guy is, most likely, the enemy of all stupid-funny movies. He couldn't stand Napoleon Dynamite. He abhorred Snakes on a Plane. But give him an arty flick from Europe with eighteen different subplots and a Sundance festival award, and he'll go nuts over it.) Everyone is saying how it "bridges cultural divides" and "shows a new side of America". Pretty high praise for a British guy doing a funny voice.
Still, I suppose I'll have to go see it eventually. It's probably going to end up being another one of those "cultural touchstones" of our generation. Plus I'll have to know all the lines so I won't be left in the dark when they start churning out ironic novelty Borat quote t-shirts.

Do a search on Youtube for Borat. Watch some of his clips, and you'll see why everyone is going nuts over the film. 90 minutes of his standard comedy is a moviegoer's dream come true.

I'll tell you why. There's a bit of ridiculous COMPLETELY MALE nudity.
I've never felt so disturbed and amused all at the same time. Pretty good movie though.

Oh yes. THAT scene. It was like a train wreck. So disturbing, yet you can't look away. And not only that, I feel it was probably the funniest scene out of the whole movie.

I actually saw the movie opening day with a bunch of fellows from my fraternity. I feel bad for the brothers of Chi Psi, and in a small way, the entire Greek community. I bet their national office is pissed. But we still laughed at the "frat guys" in all their drunken caricature-ishness. You will too. I promise.
Fantastic movie which I'm sure (unfortunately) will be quoted for another year to come.

Kickass news people! Sacha Baron Cohen's other character, Bruno, is supposed to be getting a movie too!
After that, I'd like to see them use computer imagery and shit to make a movie with him playing all three of his characters in one film. Sure, it'd have to be scripted, but it would still fucking rule.

Shit. Now I'm probably gonna have to wait for the DVD version of the movie. My brother has absolutely no interest in the movie and if he has no interest, then it's impossible to persuade him.

I really admire Sascha's commitment to his performance, I mean, how many times did he get hit in that movie anyway?
Also, the nudity was hilarious.

I can't believe how much of this was actually un-scripted. Cohen has a shitpile of lawsuits coming in from people he tricked in the movie, including the college kids and the villagers.

I couldnt stop laughing when I watched that movie. I think I was the one who laughed the loudest in the movie theater. :)
I think he dissed everything in the movie. Here's a list of things I think he dissed:
- kazakhistan and uzbekistan (assholes!!!)
- america (everyone seemed so rude especially in the subway...)
- feminists
- blacks
- jews
- christians
- gypsies
- and chickens.
