I'm very curious about 'Princess', a Danish movie released in 2006. I don't know, on one hand it seems amazing, on the other hand also quite weird (TOO weird). I don't know how to say it, a little too much pointless mature stuff added to it to make sure no one will think it's a kid's movie.

Yeah, I definitely have to agree with The Secret of NIMH. I remember seeing that movie the first time when I was a kid. And was totally blown away by the animation. Don Bluth is a god amongst other mere human animators.
Another fave of mine is Watership Down. The animation was great and so grizzly and gory for a time when animated movies were mainly for kids. The part where Bigwig was caught in the wire trap still makes me cringe.

Road to El Dorado & Sinbad (Dreamworks)
Actually, since you didn't mention a Dreamworks ban, I'll toss in Shrek as a good non-anime/non-Disney/non-Pixar movie too. ;-) Dreamworks is cool.

The Last Unicorn! Still one of my favorite animated movies.
The Secret of NIMH was also awesome, as was Angel's Egg (kind of an obscure cartoon by Yoshitaka Amano, the character designer for most of the Final Fantasy series).

Man, I'm really hard pressed between Nightmare before christmas(Wait, isn't that Disney? I can't remember) and Iron Giant. Loved both those flicks.

Guys, Nightmare Before Christmas is Disney. XD;;
Shrek is Pixar.
I'd have to say Corpse Bride, Cats Don't Dance, Secret of Nimh, Anastasia, Quest for Camelot, Little Nemo: Adventures in Slumberland, and Titan AE ftw.
Edit: Oh yes and Iron Giant was pretty amazing. :D

I don't know why, but Fifth Element.
Every part of my brain with common sense is telling me it was an awful piece of trash, but I just can't help but love the damn thing.

Yyyyyyes.... a little.... Let's put it this way: I own the DVD and it doesn't say it's a Disney-release anywhere, but that it's from Touchtone. Still, when you play the DVD there ARE all kinds of Disney trailers on it. It was Disney, but because it's not their kind of style they passed it on to Touchtone like isukun said

Dreamworks ;)
I've watched some parts of The Fantastic Planet (Planete Sauvage) a while ago. It was kind of good, but also very dull which made it hard to watch. I'd also like to see that other Rene Laloux movie, Time Masters :)

Oh yeah. I missed the "non-anime" bit. Well, it was still a good cartoon. lol!
And yeah, wasn't Fifth Element a movie? Or was there some animated version that I'm not aware of?

Concerning Nightmare Before Christmas: It may not have it's name as loud and proud on your DVD as most Disney movies, but it was created in the Disney studios using Disney employees. And it was in Kingdom Hearts, which was a Square Enix/Disney video game, so they still have the rights to it.
And on my original VHS release of Nightmare, it has DIsney's name on the cover. :)
Concerning Shrek: Homygosh, you're right, I'm sorry. XD Where is my braaaaain?
