What are some of your guys' favorite bands that you found this year? (well, they don't have to be your favorite band/singer, but one that you found that's really good).
Mine's been pretty productive:
Neutral Milk Hotel
The Decemberists (ironically found in December!)
Panurge
Pilot Speed
City and Colour
The Marble Index
The Flaming Lips
Patrick Wolf
The New Pornographers
Wow I actually found a lot.

I discovered A LOT of bands in 2006. I've only selected my best discoveries here, and it still is a friggin' large list (but they are not all bands, some are one man-thingies):
-Wolfmother One of my favorite bands now. When I heard it the first time I was just amazed! This was the thing I was looking for. Real real real great. I like their song Pyramid the best.
-Be Your Own PET This has also become one of my favs. A small band, but they can make a whole lot of noise with their simple, catchy but quick melodies. I also saw them live and it was truly hysterical, but I luuuuuved it.
-Forward,Russia! I like it.... a lot! It's Bloc Party crossed with a little bit of Arcade Fire. They are kind of young fo'ks, but they're awsome.
-Ochre My recommendence! To anyone! It's electronic, but not the dancing kind, but it's also not of the experimental almost ambient kind. I heard their CD Lemodie wich has (as you might guess) great melodies with a totally unique atmosphere. At some tracks it's almost crying because it's so beautiful
-Hard-Fi I tought this was a 2006-band, but their debute was in 2005. This year their single Cash Machine was a small hit, and it's a cool song. But they had another single called 'Better Do Better' wich was like 10 times better. This one is sadly kind of unknown, but it already is one of my favorite songs.
-Jeff Buckley I knew his name, I knew he was popular, but it was till last year that I truly discovered it. Great great GREAT artist.
-The Rakes Love their song 'All Too Human'
-The Knife Very special electronic of high quality.
-Vitalic Electronic that makes you freak.
-The Raconteurs 'Steady As She Goes' is very catchy and 'Broken Boy Soldier' has some fine guitar work.
-Kanye West Nice rap songs. On one hand not so special, but on the other it's better than most of the other rap artists.
-The Fratellis Chelsea Dagger was quite a hit up here in The Netherlands and it truly is a song that makes you jump, even if you don't want to. I listened to their whole first album and I love it. A little Country-like style of alternitive rock. There isn't one bad track on the whole album.
-The Dead 60s
-M.I.A. Simply very cool
-Jamie Lidell Multiply is awsome
-Mew Beautiful
-OhGr Sounds a little like Skinny Puppy. And I absolutely like Skinny Puppy.
-Chicks on Speed They are a wild bunch. I'd wish wish I could hang out with them..
-Supergrass A slight oldy, but they're cewl.
-Morning Runner Sound very much like Keane
-Band of Horses Great! Just great!
-Maghweels Experimental electronic of high quality
-St. Germain
-Lily Allen Very nice pop songs of a little bitchy woman whose optimism makes you truly happy. She sometimes even mentiones how f*cked up the world is, but her I don't care-attitude makes you forget all about it.
-Opeth Good metal music
-We Are Scientists Deliciously poppy alternitive stuff
-Ladytron
-Saybia
-A Tribe Called Quest Truly classic. Love them
-Gnarls Barkley 'Just a Tought' and 'Crazy' where brilliant
-Cansei De Ser Sexy Buff poppy punkfunkindie-music
-Compulsion Saw a clip of them at a rerun of Beavis & Butthead. They are quite good.
-Diamond Nights Rocking Around
-The LA's Also classic. Yes.
-Bong-Ra Rough hyper-electronic
-Goose Rock/electronic from out of Belgium
-The Von Bondies
-Jose Gonzalez Heartbeats it beeeeeeeeeeeeeeautiful
-Matisyahu
-The Automatic
-The Gathering
-Xanopticon
-Common I especially like 'New Wave' and 'Soul Power'
-Combichrist Goth Electronic Dance music, almost hardcore-like. It's fun.
-Mother Love Bone
-Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra Ha ha. Love these guys.
-Oceansize
-The Field Listen to their songs over here: http://www.myspace.com/56573986
-Rock 'N Roll Soldiers Altough I only know them by their anthem. But it ROCKS! It's sooo incredibly awsome.. "Everybody is a b*tch!"
-Dashboard Prophets
-The Herbaliser
-Gogol Bordella Totally insane Gipsy punk
-Turn Me On Dead Man I love it! I love it sooo much! This is totally my style. If you like stoner rock, if you like stuff in the style of Wolfmother and Kyuss, then listen this. They'll rock your socks off!
-The Young Knives Not being to special is what I like about them.
-Blockhead
-Cocteau Twins
-Hot Chip
-Sebadoh
-Kelley Polar
Funny thing is that two of the 'typically 2006' bands, Arctic Monkeys and Infadels, were bands I already discovered in 2005 :) And this year I already discovered something great: Bran Van 3000. The song 'Drinking in L.A.' is just fantastic. It aint new, but I never heard about it before.

Ohh, definitely Peter Bjorn and John. Amazing.
There's also...
Belle and Sebastian
RJD2
Gnarls Barkley
Tracy and the Plastics
The New Pornographers
Etro Anime
I also discovered that Yann Tiersen (whose music I've loved for a long time) did a collaboration with Shannon Wright; great stuff.

The Fratellis Chelsea Dagger was quite a hit up here in The Netherlands and it truly is a song that makes you jump, even if you don't want to. I listened to their whole first album and I love
You're my new best friend. I like them so much I got the import album for myself for christmas, but then I went back to the store a week later and they had another copy so I bought that one for my little brother for christmas and gave the first one to my self early
Jamie T: Waiting for the album with baited breath. This guy is just awesome. Plus, I download the demo versions of some songs and I'm like "meh" but then the produced version comes out and he's made like one minor change to the length of the verses or the rythem or just adds an extra chord to the rythem guitar and suddenly it's fantastic (calm down dearest, if you got the money, both of them didn't like the demos that much, finished version comes out and I listen to it on youtube over and over for like 3 days)
Jacques Lu Cont: Don't think he had an album come out, but he remixed like, everyone last year and his remixes were always better than the original. Royksopp, Madonna, Coldplay, The Killers, and on and on.
Dangermouse: Because of Gnarls Barclay, and The Gorillaz and Dangerdoom and for remixing Paris Hilton's album without permission and then sneaking it into stores. This guy's been huge since the Grey Album.
