For a comic I'm working on I'm planning to update twice a week and have pages done ahead of time, with 10 pages done before I start putting the comic up.
Those of you that have a webcomic that updates reguarly, what do you think are the best days to have your comic update on?

If you're looking for more traffic, weekdays are best. A lot of people check their webcomic favorites from work or school or during breaks when they're doing homework. Fo people updating twice a week, I would assume that here a Tuesday/Thursday update schedule would work best.

The most traffic comes on the weekdays, but if you are a newer and unknown artist on the duck you will see your comic stay on the updated lists longer. People searching out new comics will find it easier.
I guess it just depends how much PR you do on your comic. I do know that M-W-F are an-all out fight. So many people update on those days. T-R seems to be a little more laid back...Sa-Su are really laid back.

I update on the weekends, because that's when I have time. But I'm not sure about other people. I also update on Thursdays.

I update "weekly at random"...because I know I'd be bad at doing pages on specific days.

yeah, if you want to be popular, you should update daily. People like the continuity thing. :) But I think that is really hard for most people, especially those of us with one or two full time jobs

That's a very minor benefit, especially since most people searching out new comics won't be online on weekends, either. A better way to handle that is to update in the morning instead of at midnight. I know at the very least, updating on weekends hasn't gotten me more readers. I don't even get comments on my update day.

Just update everyday for one week and go to your pageviews that would help.
Other then that. I would say weekends you don't get many hits and barely any on Sunday

I used to update my old comic on Sundays, and I got a moderate amount of traffic. However, most of the comments I got were during the week, after I had updated. I found that a weekly update on Sunday was actually a good way to get publicity. At least I thought so.
I now update my new comic weekly on Tuesdays.

If you can do it, update daily, of course. For me though, I have only enough free time to draw one page per week. I decided to update on Saturdays so that if my weeknights were specially busy, I could still cram and finish the page on Saturday and post it that night.

I decided to check my numbers, and it goes like this...
Monday was the top visited day by a substantial amount
Wednesday was below that.
Friday and Tuesday were about even, with Tuesday a dip between Monday and Wednesday.
Thursday, however, dips between Wednesday and Friday.
Weekends get very low hits; especially Saturday.

I believe that the MWF formula works simply because it's the arbitrary standard. People are used to looking at comics on these days, and are more likely to remember it should it come up.
