Best day to update?

I've been working on a new webcomic, and I'm wondering which day is the best for new comics... I've been thinking a bit, but I'm still not quite sure

Monday doesn't seem like that good of a day, as there are already so many comics updating on that day.

Tuesday... I'm not sure, maybe I'll try it...

Wednesday, Many 3 a week comics update here, and due to my work schedule, it's not a good day anyways.

Thursday, Many comics update here. (2 updates per week)

Friday is just like Monday.

Saturday and Sunday seem like they'd be good days, but do many people come to the site during the weekend?

Does anyone have any more information that I could use?

Well I just wouldn't update on the weekend. Don't worry that you're updating when everybody else is. They choose those times to update because they're the best times. If you worry about having too much competition in webcomics you should just forget about making a webcomic. There are already more webcomics than there are people who read them.

I'm not sure why you don't want to update when other comics do. That's when people are reading comics. ;) If they are online to look at comics they already like, that's the time they are going to be looking for new comics too. I guess I don't get the "competition" angle. It seems more of a mutualistic relationship, at least on a community site like DD. (I sometimes forget to check the comics that update on odd days. I look at them all at once.)

Saturdays and Sundays are dead. Sometimes you get hits from people browsing, but it is generally the downtime for webcomics (especially for leaving comments and forum activity). I used to update every day, but weekends were so dead, I stopped updating then. Friday is a slow day too, not as bad as the weekend, but if you are doing just one day a week, I'd avoid that.

In general, most pageviews/hits come in the center of the week. Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Mondays aren't bad, but sometimes they fall into three day weekend and holiday effects. Pageviews drop off around holidays just like weekends.

Try experiment a little, some of the advice is pretty good though.

For me it varies but overall there isn't a lot of difference, sure the forums are dead on the weekend but I still get the page views for the most part.

If you update when it is quiet then you comics thumbnail will appear on the front in recently updated for longer but there are probably fewer people look.
New comic alert. [..]

To state the complete opposite to every one else I have found Sundays to be a great time to update for page views (tho not great for comments) as the comic hangs around the just in part of the main page most of the day!

There is really no day of the week that is going to increase your popularity significantly. Just update when it best suits you. A lot of the extra people you get from less active days probably won't even stay around.

I (try to) update from Monday through Friday, and in my experience, the days with best traffic seem to be Thursday to Tuesday (to me, at least). Monday and Friday things kinda get slow.

Never tried to update regularly on Weekends, but I guess that it would be a good days to try.

But the day alone won't guarantee you a nice traffic. Just try to promote you comic the more you can. If you do that, people would visit you, regardless the day.

I just post whenever I have something to post, and it's worked just fine for me. If you have a good comic, people will discover it eventually and they'll keep up with your updates (the Fave feature helps with that a lot).

From what I've observed, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday are generally high traffic days. Monday is iffy, sometimes I get a lot of hits when I update on Monday, but other times it's like I might as well have not bothered. Friday and the weekends tend to be slow, but I still get decent traffic if I update on those days.

When should you post? No good answer for that. You could post on high traffic days, but then your comic is on the front page less and you'll get absolutely ignored on slow days. You could post on the slow days because you'll get some traffic on busy days whether you post or not, and it will all even out. I think in the long run it probably doesn't matter all that much. Just post EVERY day, that's the ticket! ;)
