Just finished playing through the story mode for the second time. A very good game all round! I was surprised at how slow-paced it was (or maybe that's just the way I play!) but it certainly helped to increase the tension levels.

Unlike some other people here I didn't mind that the methods required to take out each of the bosses were all fairly similar. Personally I hate bosses anyway. They are a cheap game mechanic; a lazy tool used by developers to stop you moving onto the next level unless you go out and buy a Walkthrough (or search for tips on the internet!) Frankly, a game with a good story mode doesn't need to rely on a series of bosses, each of which can only be defeated by a different 15-button combo. I've given up on several games before the end just because it became tedious trying to defeat a particular boss. I was therefore pleased that Batman: Arkham Asylum relied on the already established combat moves and let me play through to the end.

In fact I might just go away and do just that. Again!

^ I dont so much mind the fact that you dont need to really put any skill into stoping a boss. In fact, if they were just like normal enemies but with a larger health bar I wouldnt mind at all. It's that the Titan mechanic is very jarring when you're taking on a group of thugs. It stops being "freeflow combat" and turns into "run around in circles and wait for an opening". It's tedious.

I've downloaded all the DLC, but haven't bought the game yet.

I guess I'm waiting for it to be used. And downloading the free DLC in case they change their minds later. >.>

Stuff 'bout bosses

A well-done boss adds as much as a poorly done one takes away.

Ah. I saw the waves of minions differently. Since this is a game without health packs, the minions were just a way of allowing you to top up your health between attacks on the boss himself. That's why they were there, I think. As a game mechanic it has its flaws but, generally speaking, I found it a much more entertaining way of replenishing health than simply pausing to swallow a magic potion!

I didnt really have trouble with the boss himself wounding me until minions were thrown in. Once they were it became a distraction/hassle and I would end up getting hit by a thrown thug or the guy goon rushing me. Now that I've dicked around in the game so much I'm pretty good an strining a combo while the boss is around and avoiding damage, but during my first two playthroughs it just kinda sucked the fun away.

Fun fact, I made that picture myself just for you with care and love and all you do is spit some retarded 4chan meme back at me. Thanks a ton you ungreatful spaz. PS, quit preordering lackluster collector editions that add little to the gameplay experience and use that money for Arkham because seriously its pretty much the game of the year (Uncharted 2 is probably the only thing that will smack that title away).
