Well this LOOKS cool, when was the last time we had a decent Batman game? Sega Genesis or SNES days maybe?

It's probably not based on the comic of the same name, Paul Dini's involved in the writing. I also read that supposedly some of the voice actors (or at least Kevin Conroy as Batman) from the animated series might be voicing in it too.

I dunno, I really like some of their older games. SoulReaver is still one of my favorites, incredible atmosphere and fun gameplay.

Yes, but, as you said, that was an older game. This being a newer game I have no confidence in it.

Of course they could blow me away by making this one of their better games, but I have too many doubts and there's too much evidence against it being good.

At least it wont be based off the recent movie, (I hate superhero movie-based games), so I have high hopes.

It's been confirmed that Mark Hamill will be voicing the Joker in this. Well, that made it worth at least a rent for me. ;) Hopefully Kevin Conroy will be voicing Batman too and maybe some of the other original BTAS voice actors, like the original Harley Quinn VA would be cool.

All this talk of Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill makes me wish they would make a sandboxy kind of Batman game based on the animated series.

As for Bane....well, I never really cared much for him in the first place, so meh. Though I hope he isn't a one-word dummy again, I can't really tell by this...

Heheheheh, oh the Mark Hamill laugh, love it. Even if the whole game is complete crap, it'll still be worth it for the voice actors.

Because that is the kind of crap they like to put on female characters in guy video games, though their excuse will probably be something like 'we wanted something more gritty, scary, and/or visually interesting to fit with the game's themes'

Her acrobatics at the end look terrible, not flexible whatsoever.

I wonder if Poison Ivy will be in it? That would be great if they crammed in as many bad guys as they could.

Is Scarecrow going to be in it? I bet he isn't, there is never any love for Scarecrow.

I think they put Harley in a gothic nurse skirt just to fulfill some kind of panty shot quota.

I don't know about this one. It could be a decent game, but we won't know until it's released.

I actually got to play it yesterday, demo is up at gamestops. Controls very well, graphics are tight and do not stutter no matter how much action is on the screen. Finishing movies are just brilliant. As soon as I hoped Batman would take the pipe away form the assulting enemy and knock his god damn teeth out, he ends up doing it.

On the flipside, the combat is way too easy. You're given a very large and easy chance to counterattack, and enemies are slow as shit. Hoping it's just because it's a demo that it's so easy. Because if it keeps at this level of difficulty, it's not unreasonable to just jump down and kick the crap out of the bad guys as opposed to taking the time to scare and trick them like the game wants you to do.

I withdraw my previous statement. This game is fun.

Though I agree the difficulty could use a bit of tweaking >_>

Seriously though, women in Batman have been over sexualized since the 60'. Catwoman was a slut, tru fact.

I don't disagree with that. I just don't think fake urban overdone goth is really in the "style" of Batman. Although sexy and so on, the villainesses always had a distinct amount of class. Harley's outfit is just trashy. (I'd also argue that kind of goth is already out of style - even NCIS has a goth girl.) I think they could have pulled off something equally 'revealing' and also in-character and stylish, but they went for the easy way out, which is to cash in on the fetish.

I do want to play this game though. Scary Batman is the best kind of Batman.

I have to agree about Harley Quin there. Although her original outfit isn't all that original for a villain (there have always been harlequin villains), it did look magnificent on her.

This current outfit isn't sexy. It's just over-the-top dollish fantasy dress-up stuff. She looks like a transvestite.

Her original costume (I assume you're talking about the red tight one you see in the WB cartoons) isn't very "scary" which this game is supposed to be. Also, aside from being "scary", AA the graphic novel also plays with the villains, which means this game is free to do so as well.

I can respect the desire to change the old costume, I just think they changed it to something stupid and out of 'character' (for Batman design)

It's not scary.

The thing is that her costume is prolly the coolest thing about her, without it she's just another pointless generic POS padding character. It's just as much a part of her personality as all the rest of her. it DEFINES her, like batman's silly batsuit.

She's NAMED after it.
Like Batman is named after his.

That's how stuff works is crazy hero comic universes.

It is scary because she looks insane wearing it. Her red harley suit is not... cool. It's just a red harley suit, that's all. Big whoop. So she has to wear it day in and day out?

Miller's DKR is an iconic Batman work, yet the characters don't act to their stereotype there. Joker almost never smiles, Twoface is either covered up or fixed (and doesn't wear a black-white suit), etc etc. Costumes don't define anybody. If you want Harley to be more than a caricature, then she has to change clothes like anyone else.
