But he lost to Wolverine in DC vs. Marvel.

In a non-canon cross-over which was actually decided by a reader-poll (later he said that he was paid to take a dive too).

That's insane.

But why create a character that absolutely can't be beaten? Or he's been beaten, just not finished?

1. How is he a hero? I'm lost.

2. Boys want a WWF/WWE guy to beat up Superman. Enter the Lobo.

Lobo is sort of like Wile E. Coyote, as a character who can be repeatedly crushed and mamed at the amusement of the reader. In that way, he's a very atypical superhero character. You're not really supposed to cheer for his heroics as you are to snicker at him as he bumbles his way through inane adventures, all along attempting to shield his ego from whatever humiliations he has to endure.

It's actually a pretty good idea as long as one does not attempt to make Lobo seem like some sort of hero. As a hero, Lobo would be boring. As an idiotic brute, he's hysterical.

And yes, my reference to the Wierd Al Yankovich film UHF was most intentional.

Lobo just killed a god last week, using only one of his eyes.

Creepy
