Eep. New comic is hard to do. Maybe we could use the forum, but 40% of the time is an experienced person who has made a lot of comics already and until then, just didn't bother with the forums. What if, what if new comic people who wants to self nominate themselves must already have an account here, with out being older than two months.

Damn, this is harder than I thought, I don't know how the Oscars do it.

EDIT

Argh, my inner child is trying to tell me something. Something about looking in the 'Hey Everybody, Look What I Did!' forum and see any recent topics made by recently joined posters who are also wanting to nominate themselves. I really should shut my inner child up.

An award noone has up is best sci-fi/fantasy universe. I think an award for that would be good.

most likely to get published

Print on Demand kind of makes that category irrelevent.

It could be clarified to something like, 'Most likely to be commercially published' or something.

Seeing as there are Best sprite comic, best photo comic and Best manga catagories how about a best Cutpaste comic catagory? because some of us just dont fit into other comic types.
Of course you will. All intelligent beings dream. Nobody knows why.

Its basicly when a character/object is drawn once then repeatedly used for the rest of the comic with either little or no editing, it isnt entierly unlike spriting but it clearly isn't the same.

in essence it is a comic where the characters arent drawn specificly for the scene they are in and are just made up of previously made "stock" images.

This concept is new to me . But seriously, perhaps we should combine Sprite and Cut/Paste? There are definitely arguments both for and against this combination, but I personally think they're similar enough to be combined.

Now all we need is a fancy term for it (ala Fumetti = photo comics). Perhaps... Limited Action Pictoral Style?

I would find that entierly acceptable, plus it allows us directly combat the evil of sprite comics through alternative limited art style comics.

but we do need a fancy term that is both accurate and inclusive of all the potential types of comics that could be included.

-Most original sprite comic

-Most detailed drawing

-Most improved since the beginning of the comic

-Least Hiatus'

They're just my ideas on what should be rewarded

No offense intended, really, but is there any such thing as an original sprite comic? I'm just asking. Like, would this constitute as being original, as in the creator made the characters, sprites, villians, STORY? Just wondering.

Anyway, my ideas:

1. Most Original Art Style- That of course is my focus... By this, I mean... NOT anime. Not a biased, really. I don't like it, sure, but some of the comics out there that aren't anime need some recognition that they don't get because of this popular style. Although, I'm not saying this should exclude anime completely. If they clearly have anime influence but the style itself is still pretty original for the comic, then sure, yeah, go for it. Sorry, I thought I might need to explain that one.

2. Most Professional Looking - Clean lines, Well thought out text placement/text that blends with the story well, good color technique of applicable

Now for the fun stuff!

3. Most ridiculous

4. Most Pointlessly Hilarious

5. Worst Craftsmanship Evar (Okay, but this would be funny, and you know it.)

...That's all I can think of at the moment. XD

And I like this one. Like Red Meat in the Onion... and others. But this IS a good way to combat sprite comics. XD

I've got a few category suggestions, but you don't have to take me literally.

Best Violent scene ussage.

Best Anthro

Best comedic action in sci fi series

and last but not least, most detailed artwork.

Some of these could've already been thought of. If so just disregard what I wrote down.

You know whenever I see "sandy" next to a "last post in this thread" note I always, without fail think "oh god, sandy said something, what horrors have been unleashed"

This is one of those posts.

Best violent scene usage? what does that even mean? best use of a violence scene? as in not best violent scene, but best use of a scene that is violent regardless of how good that scene is? that sound's a bit silly and wishy washy to me, how about "Best action scene"

Best anthro?
best anthro what? best comic featuring Antomorphised things, best anthro character? and then on top of that what are you even refering to? there are comics on DD with anthropomorphic silverware, and dont forget the anthropomorphic personifactions of gods, death and various other things, this award could mean anything.

Best comedic action in sci-fi series? why sci-fi? why not in general? also what defines "comedic action" or is that meant to mean A comedic action? Who knows.

And most detailed art? that might actually work, wow at least one of those makes sense.

Is it just me or were you just making ideas for catagories you thought YOU might be nominated for?
Of course you will. All intelligent beings dream. Nobody knows why.

Hmmmmm, well.... As far as the Anthro thing, I didnt' see that one mentioned and there are quite a few series with the subject... Anyway, it's okay to talk about robbing the bank if one doesn't actually do it right? Just a little wish list thing, and like I said you didn't have to take me literally if you didn't want to.

I love Riku's list.

I think "Best original character design" should be added (unless I just missed it, which is entirely possible.)

Maybe a few semi-silly awards, like:
'Most quote-able line'
'Least practical costume design'
'Biggest Mary Sue/Gary Stu'
'Most overused running gag'
etc. would be fun?

Anime isn't a genre!!. Honestly, why do so many people seem to think that Anime styled art deserves some kind of special treatment in these kind of things?
