my parents used to nag me even when I painted a lot (which come on, everyone considers a serious form of art, right?). It's a rule in my household: no painting in the house. I used to just lock the door to my room and sit kinda behind my bed and paint, though (it makes sense with how my room was set up). Maybe my family's odd, though?
but I'm not an art major either... so that may be why my parents/family want me to focus less on comics and art in general.

I think a balance of art and comics are just as important. Taking up art improves skills and creativity. But taking up comics helps inspire free expression and inspiration.

I would sit in my art class two years ago, not drawing any comics at the time, and my art teacher was asking me "Why aren't you drawing comics?" She was supportive in the idea of me drawing comics or illustrating things. At first I didn't take her too seriously, I was just drawing whatever the hell she told me to while drawing my own stuff.

I was sketching comics for my own viewing and the viewing pleasures of my friends around me about three years ago. But I actually didn't really start drawing comics for serious terms until last year. Kinda glad I have cause I've seen improvement in my art and in my comics.

actually, now that I think about it, I'm just a big complainer. My mom's really the only one against me making comics (just bc she's tough to please, probably.) my sister and dad and brother all got accounts on dd so they could comment on my comic ^_^! (well my brother also started a comic, but he only drew one page ;_; ) and my uncle sends me emails all the time about my updates (he liked the recent gaggle of yaoi jokes) and my cousins are always emailing me saying "more romance for King and less for Eve! King needs a girlfriend! etc!" aww.
and a friend of mine, Erika, did me some awesome fanart!! *feels the love*
I'm not taking any art classes this semester (;_;!) but my old professors liked my comic!
