From what I have gathered, SEO softwares don't really work, so how would one go able achieve SEO through for example, google?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I have never heard of an affiliate marketing network for comics, and unless you were selling something akin to subscriptions I'm not sure how that model would work.

SEO is a fairly big topic, but to start with be sure you understand the basics of how a search engine operates and finds site data, google most of all.
