I'm wondering where anyone with non-fantasy based stories had some luck with ad space?

Me too. That's pretty much the question I was posing in this post . So far, I haven't found that any of the techniques which seem to work for fantasy/manga/furry/gag-strip comics are particularly helpful to story-driven comics outside of those genres.

Like you, I'd love to hear what creators of other (non-fantasy) story-led comics have found successful but, based on the lack of response so far, I'm beginning to think that - at least here in web-land - there is nothing that's especially useful for this type of comic.

Successful advertising for nonfantasy comics?

Well horror comics aren't so bad. There's www.horrorfind.com you can put your scary webcomic at. And you can put your comic ad on other horror genre webcomic sites.

For others it is tough. Especially if your not completely sure what genre your comic is exactly.

Best thing to do perhaps is research. Find other comics (that are more popular than yours) that is very much like yours in genre, theme, or setting and advertise there.

never came accross a comic like mine. I think you just have to try everything. Its tough because theres so much stuff around.

At least I'm not alone in this dilemma. :)

So far, in my own exploration of advertisements, taking up a sponsor slot on Onlinecomics.net has brought in more traffic, AND more repeat visitors than anything else.

Aside from that, I've picked a few story based comics high on traffic with PW to spend a few days with ads on. That was mildly okay.
