A dating sim question for girl gamers (or the guys too if they think they know...)

I'm just curious. We guys already know what kind of women we'd want to meet in video games or otherwise. And you got all those stereotypes, from the nerdy introverted library girl to the hot blonde bombshell that would make you really REALLY explode with joy (no pun intended).

But what kind of guys would girls go for if a dating sim were made for them? I only know of a few stereotypes, such as the effeminate graceful rich guy to the overly muscled not so smart but very handsome brute... or maybe I'm wrong about those.

*goes off to make some more black coffee*

The gay looking bishonen with lots of money, lots of muscles, great car and enjoys being a total jerk. He also would have to enjoy yaoi, shopping, and loves to cook. Oh! He'd have to carry all the bags and open jars too.

Dating sims for girls do exist.

...I've played a few of them.

I always end up with the asshole. ._.

That's something I keep forgetting. The only ones I've seen so far are for men... -_-; and some have bloody disturbing endings...

My niece showed me one she's playing called "Princess Debut". And apparently her favorite prince in that game looks all dejected and depressed... x_x

My man in a dating sim would have to be a little average. Not a slob, but not some muscle-bound beefcake either.

If he's hung like a horse, he's hung out to dry. I go for comfort over slut-factor. Size, to me, is everything, and usually it's everything I avoid.

If he's rude, no shot, but if he's too clingy, eager, or otherwise over-complimentary or affectionate, especially within just a couple of times meeting...he's kicked to the curb.

If he seeks to please me, that's a plus. If he tries to do nothing but, then no chance.

In short...

...A man who looks decent no matter what he wears without showing off too much. A man who knows how to treat me with respect, and can give me my space when I need it. Someone who knows when to please me, and when to let me please him. And someone a bit more on the 'average' side under the belt, too.

I haven't personally played a lot of Dating Sims for Girls. They're hard to find in my area, not surprisingly. But from what I have played, I kinda figure that my 'perfect guy' doesn't exist in them. Most Japanese game-makers have too much of a flare for stereotypes and air-headed females who chase them.

It doesn't suit me. Oh well, keep playing and keep looking I guess. Where is my perfect fictional piece of man-meat? >.<

There is a game called Yojinbo which is a love sim game for girls. the main character has to save a princess from being killed by making different choices. She on the way is protected by 6 guys and you can choose which to go for. There's a "mature" boy, a handsome efeminate guy, the strong/angry but somewhat dim guy, the samurai who protected the princess all her life, the psychopath/troubled guy that you can save with love, and the pervy priest.

Personally i liked the angry guy ^-^. Its not a hentaii game either. I just wish there were more out there for girls.

I am male, btw.

1. Whatever the character trope, I think he must have a physical presence that allows a girl to instantly clamp onto. Girls have lust too. There are different types of presence. There's the strong masculine physical presence which makes a girl feel secure (not exaggerated muscles... just wide shoulders, broad back, tall, confident command of his personal space, etc). There's also the more feminine, but also more expressive physical presence which better communicates a glamorous air, the kind a dancer or a musician would have (dressed comfortably in his subcultural niche, lithe, long legs for dancing, beautiful hands, probably long hair, likely a lot more open and approachable compared to the other one).

2. A big thing that girls fall for (in fiction) is vulnerability. The guy has some fatal flaw or troubled aspect which activates the maternal instinct in the girl player. He needs her. She can save him with love. If the guy is independent and perfect, then the spark for torrid romance is not there. The relationship is too ordinary. Ofc, IRL this type of guy often spells trouble, and smart practical girls try to avoid them. Emphasis on try. The nurturing instinct is strong, even for girls who should know better.

the pervy priest.
If I was a girl I'd go for that guy every single time :)

Hang on... that's MY personality type! O_O
Where does that fit into your list Mlai?

There are more than many westerners realize. In the link I posted above, they list a good 75 in addition to Yo-jin-bo (more if you count the doujin titles). Of course, most aren't in English, but the same can be said of the male-oriented visual novel genre. It isn't all that popular in the West, so most games just don't get released over here without some element of porn involved.

This is unfortunate, but true. And I always get the image of the player being some guy wearing glasses in a messy room with one hand on the keyboard or mouse and the other hand holding.... a can of beer. I'm sure that's just a stereotype though.

Not sure why stuff like that is not popular. I'm guessing it's probably because we're all used to action of one sort or another and reading text along with looking at static or barely animated pictures is boring.

Maybe I should take notes from this thread and make a visual novel for girls. Who knows... maybe there's a market for them that can be exploited. :)

or I'm just imagining things again...

I would only bother playing a dating sim if I could get Batman.

Or Stephen Fry.

Or Rowan Atkinson (provided he was dressed as Blackadder at all times)

Oh god yes.
Hey buddy, you should be a Russian Cosmonaut, and here's why.

I would only take Elizabethan Blackadder. (He was the farthest from Mr Bean)

I know Stephen Fry doesn't date women and all, but I'd still want him around for his sparkling wit.

Obviously I'd prefer Elizabethan Blackadder, he was the most Blackadderist of them all. But I'd be willing to settle for one of the others if I had to.
