This keyboard has tiny little displays on every key. They can display any graphic or video you want on ANY of the keys. AND you can assign any function you want on any of the keys So you can have one layout for typing, another for playing half-life, and a third for photoshop, etc. Best yet you can change on the fly. Price starts at ~$450 for a single active key and you can add more keys over time. I kinda want one.

Seems rather pricey... Lovely and cool though. :)

It's a funky idea but the cost is a little steep.
For the cost of just two of those keys, this guy [datamancer.net] will make you one of these:

Nice. Someone posted some pics of the originals a while ago... another guy makes these ones. Heh, I suppose I could even make one if I could be bothered, but it seems like a lot of work. :(

The thought of using classic typewriter... Ouch.

I used to learn typing using one of those classic typewriters. And my fingers always get cut by the sharp lower edges of the keys. Not to mention the strenuous pain that requires you to push each of the stiff keys with force.

Actually its not a mechanical. To make it they just hijacked a real keyboard, re-framed it and put classic style faces on the keys. Soo technically you wouldn't have to worry about cut and strain issues. really look here

You can even buy steampunk keyboards from sites like this one [datamancer.net]

They're genuine old typewriter key faces though, so it's still the hard, unyielding metal face... Even if they're not hard to press at all. :)

I love them just because they're more stylish than any standard plastic keyboard I've ever seen. Now if only they didn't have the F-ing useless num keys they'd be perfect. lol!
Wouldn't be hard to modify them to get rid of those...

You can keep your fancy blinking graphics, no matter how beautiful they may be - I want me one of these:
