This is how lame I am.
I want to see this movie in the worst way. I'm hopin' I can convince my sister-in-law to let me take my eldest niece. It's PG, so maybe I can swing it--or tag along. Really, I admit to enjoying "The Tenth Kingdom" in one sitting, providing I have a Big Gulp, on more than one occassion. But, I don't wanna' wait for DVD. Now, I'm not a big, Patrick Dempsey fan. I think he looks like a weasel. But, I ADORE Amy Adams and James Marsden is such a cutie that I'm choosin' to call him by name instead of Cyclops. I just love Julie Andrews (Is she a dame yet, if she's not...do you think it secretly irks her a bit?)--she's the narrator...Oooo, the little girl in me wants to wear ribbons of pink and ballet slippers while I listen to my little record player, prancing around to "Tina the Ballarina" that I bought at the "Book Fair."

LOL!
You know what? I was in the theater just three hours ago and I saw the preview for this.... and they used a joke I was going to use! Brooke was going to find Alec via the "magic mirror". I guess I'll have forget about that one.
I've got mixed feelings about the movie though. On one hand it's like Disney's return to 2D animation in a way, but on the other hand it's still just another princess romance movie. I'm not sure what to think.

Think they stole your idea.
Do it.
Personally, I think this movie looks fun, a return to my days of childhood bliss and innocence, as it might be. Ahhh, to forget the terrible creature I am, 'twould be quite the blessing, methinks.
So yeah, I'm totally going to need to get a girlfriend so I can see this without any fear of heckling. Because I like heckling, just not when it's directed at me.

I've been wanting to see this movie since I saw the preview back when I saw Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. ...I think this movie looks very cute, and fun for all ages. I didn't even know the evil Queen was Susan Sarandon until I looked it up on IMDB.com. And holy crap, look at that--Julie Andrews is the Narrator.
...And did you know that Prince Edward (James Marsden) is 'Cyclops' from the X-Men movies? ...Small world, eh?
EDIT: ...marita, I just realized I repeated everything you said in your first post. Forgive me, I'm tired and drunk. You can slap me now. :)

I saw this preview in theaters some of the people in the audience were excited at first, then disappointed when the live action elements came in. By the end, the audience actually booed (of course this was at the Alamo Drafthouse, never a place to have shy audiences). I think a lot of people want a return to 2D animation. This isn't it. This is just dumb.

Wouldn't be the first time someone stole from Drunk Duck users. Anyone see Lucy Daughter of the Devil on Adult Swim? Anyone see Zac get a credit for it?

This is what I thought too, actually. I thought Disney re-hired their 2D animators, and I could go back to California and try to get a job in animation again. Then I realized what they were doing and I cried.
I knew someday people would get sick of all this stiff, unemotional 3D animation crap and yearn for the days of fluid, lively 2D. I think a lot of people are beginning to realize what a mistake we made by purging it out of our mainstream culture.

Nah, they'll just sit around wondering about and complaining about why/how anime is so popular.

I love real world / fantasy world meeting movies. (The Tenth Kingdom, Narnia, Stardust... um, Super Mario Brothers) :) I plan to watch this.
Sorta unrelated, but I don't like 3D animation myself. It was fun as a novelty. It sucks as a mainstream outlet. I like 2D stuff. But the most recent 2D Disney stuff (a few years back) was not up to the old Disney quality anyway. The most recent American-made 2D animated movie I liked was Dreamworks' Sinbad. (Thankfully, we are still getting good animation and stories from Japan -- along with the occasional 3D animation stuff, which, as it turns out, I hate regardless of country of origin.)

Mistake to ditch 2D, yes. But I think 3D is capable of some great movies and I'm positive it was remain.

I'm really excited to see this movie actually. The idea just seems so fun and the scenery and costumes are amazing.
My biggest fear is that it turns into another Happily N'Ever After hips.
I know what you guys mean also with the 3D animation. I liked Shrek and Nemo... but it's really getting out of hand now. It's almost as if they believe making it 3D will yield instant success. Not so D:

I would love to see this movie more if it was all 2D, and not just 2D segments.
Meh, at least the Princess and the Frog movie will be in 2D. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Frog_Princess_(film) [en.wikipedia.org]

I'm worried the Princess and the Frog will suck due to nervousness about offending someone. All these changes that they made, like changing the Princess's name from "Maddie" and not making her be a servant girl, just to aviod being called racists. It's pretty stupid.
I don't mind them being senstive to racial concerns, but it sucks when they change stupid things like names. I mean, if she was named Beula or something, I'd understand it, but Maddie? Sheesh.

I'm worried that the Frog Princess will be topical and dated thanks to the fact that they're putting it in New Orleans. I worry that it'll become a "Look how great New Orleans is" fad, just like the "New York is awesome" fad after the terrorist attacks.

Well I enjoyed this movie from start to finish. Granted, 2 minutes into the movie I (and everyone else) knew exactly how it would end, but the process was quite fun. Every step of the way was predictable, but like any Thanksgiving movie that you've seen 10x already, it doesn't detract from it.
I guess the roles were casted well. I hate Gray's Anatomy, so I can't really like the male lead. I think the cartoonland ppl overacted in the real world... but then this is a kids' movie.

I wanna see Enchanted. I hope the real world isn't boring. It usually is in these kind of movies. with some exceptions like narnia. I looked at the trailer and I was happy Disney made a 2D movie again. Became a bit less enthusiastic when I saw real people.
