I like lots of mainstream and alternate music, but as far as consistent talent, I've always been a big Billy Joel fan. I think he is one of the greatest lyricists in the world. Combined with perfect mood setting music, he tells doesn't just tell a story, he transports you there. Some of my favorites include:

I live about 40 minutes from Allentown, PA. Allentown was known for its steel production though, not coal. The coal miners were actually from my neck of the woods (Northeast PA).

Still a brilliant song.
