I don't think so. Its either a 5 or a 1, anything lower than a 5 is like saying 'i didn't like it'.

Why doesn't DD just remove the rating all together and have the comments themselves rateable like many other sites.

Because DD hasn't had a coder for years and no suggestions no matter how good have been implemented for at least that long.

Also, wrong section, I'm moving it. :]

Ahh thanks for the move. I contemplated moving it here.

I guess it doesn't make a big deal, but its so pointless if I forget to put a 5 it'll look like I hated it which I didn't

Nah, I don't think it does. You're still leaving a text comment which is a lot more important to most people. :]

Or it could be changed from giving a number to saying "Positive, neutral or negative" which is what it essentially comes down to

...but i guess there's no point talking about that. Instead it'll probably be easier to work on people's attitudes. 3 technically means average and a lot of the comics ARE average (I hope mine is at least average). Getting a 5 when you usually get 3s/4s is going to mean a hell of a lot more than just getting 5s all the time.

I'm pretty sure you can remove the line of code that allows for ranking, since its not totally connected to commenting. It uses the same send button, but you dont need one or the other to form a comment.

Course I'm just assuming, I dont feel like looking at all that code to find out.

Also I'm sure DD could hire and intern capable enough to fix the site since its the sort of thing a baby would code. But I guess interns are too expensive. :V
