now i was wonderin, is it the 5 or so comics with the most votes become the nominees, or are there already other comics shosen for these catagories, and the comic with the most votes get added to the nominee list?

It has to be the latter. -- Especially considering the first poll has only 5 options.

My guess is there was a definite top four but a multi-way tie for the fifth spot in the finalists ring.

well,we're still in the primaries yet, which are determined the same way as what you're seeing now. the finalists are all determined based on votes so yes, the more well know comics are often what makes it becuase that's what the people vote for, it cant be helped. though the winners are determined by panelists.

Yup. Normally with 1 or 2 ties Amanda and co will make judgment calls. But with so many options in these 2 cats it seemed a better idea to do a vote.

And it may even be ties for 4th/5th spots ^~

While I guess a tie-breaker makes a bit more work for the organisers, its nice to get a look at some of the comics people have been voting for.

My favourites list is going to take a few hits during these awards... there are too many decent comics, damnit!
