Oh god, I just plucked my eyebrows for the very first time. They do look very good, but it hurt so much, I'm not sure I ever want to do that again. :P
Anyone have any special tips or anything. Also, I will ONLY pluck, I don't want to buy wax, and I REALLY don't want wax or other substances near my eyes. :P
Getting them waxed in a professional salon is usually 10-13$, the pain is tremendously less than picking each one individually and they can shape your eyebrows without making one smaller than the other.
I recommend staying away from Vietnamese waxing places and the ones in the mall, they aren't nearly as gentle as the ones in hair salons and what-not. (personal experience here >_< )
From what I hear, if you keep on plucking your eyebrows, eventually those follicles will scar and when you get older your eyebrows will look weird and freakish.
Like those old ladies who have a perfectly thin arch for each eyebrow that looks really weird on their faces
"Ryan_Scott" Said: you love to scare poeple don't you... it's just like that nuts shaving thread
It's apparently true though...
Apparently if you keep up the plucking, eventually the hairs won't be able to grow back in those places- which is ok while you like that look, but you won't always, and your face will change as you age and that look won't look good with it anymore anyway.
So if you keep it up you'll be stuck with the same thing (or a slightly deformed version of it), and then you'll have to paint your eyebrows on like a burn victim.
...it's sad when 40 year-olds already have to do that.
You're probably better off shaving or cutting them instead, except in the middle of course where you don't want any hair anyway... Unless you're like Freda Carlo...
Best furikuri reference ever! Anyway, I don't pluck, I shave mine with a little razor made for them (I think they sell them anywhere). I need to shave it because my deep dark secret is that I have a unibrow!!!!
I pluck mine but I don't shape them into arches or anything. It's more a case of getting rid of the strays (and one of them is a little lopsided at the end so I even them out). so I'd be happy if they never grew back. :]
I really like those guys who have blonde hair but nearly black eyebrows. I think it's funny, which one is their real hair color? Why does it do that? Would their beard be light or dark?
I pluck my eyebrows because they get itchy for some weird reason when they grow back 0.0 At first it was painful but after a while I started liking it Masochistic much?

I disagree. Might just be me, but when I got mine waxed a few years back it hurt like hell and I vowed to never do it again.
Or maybe it's just 'cause I'm a wimp.
K.A.L.A.-dan! Morality Pet >:3 Would you kindly...

I'm definitely sticking to the under-plucking method. I'm catching strays, straightening this one section where I basically get an eyebrow cowlick, and giving myself the SLIGHTEST bit of arch. My eyebrows otherwise are like straight across and have no definition to them. They didn't look bad, but I want a cleaner look.
Also, this is nothing like the nuts thread! XD I imagine that the eyebrows are 2,000 times less terrifying to imagine in pain.
I shave, and pluck only occasionally when my razor refuses to remove some hairs. As long as my eyebrows aren't too thick and I don't have a unibrow I'm pretty happy. :] Ain't going to poke around with those too much.
Since this thread is about removing hairs I just want to say I dream of a bright new future where people don’t have to shave their legs… seriously it takes too long, then it feels weird and what‘s the point? And now guys are doing it which seems somehow wrong to me.
(ok, you don’t HAVE to have to shave your legs but then you’re too embarrassed to go out in public)
Tip #1: Get good tweezers. I recommend this style - though not THOSE - you can get the same shape tweezer at Walgreens for $2. Normally, a good pair of tweezers is enough to stop the majority of the pain.
However, I'm a wuss. It was enough for me to work on the left with no issues... but the right still hurt (and every time I plucked one, I'd sneeze violently *shrug*).
So Tip #2: If you are really sensitive still, get a numbing agent like store-brand Vapo-Rub. All you need is a little bit on your brows about 5 min before you pluck. Yeah, it makes it messy (and minto-smelly), but there's no pain!
I took my gf to thread her eyebrows a couple of months ago...
As I layed there in the waiting room... hearing the many screams come from across the hall... I couldn't help but wonder... how lucky I was to be a guy.
meaning she corners me once every few months with tweezers in hand, her face a mask of disgust. My eyebrows aren't all that dark or bushy though, I don't care.
i just plucked my eyebrows for the first time too, afterwards i discovered a new race of pygmy people, won them over, and marched them into a volcano.that's what happened after i plucked my eyebrows for the first time.

I gotta get some tweezers when I go to the city in the afternoon. I lost my tweezers and I struggle plucking manually with fingers. Shaving seems to make hair grow back faster (or so the myth says). Mind you I'm talking about dealing with unibrows, not my 2 brows. I'm a guy, but I don't want 1 brow.
