As I said it before it has some good points
thought I think the guy who made the article have something against a lot of comics for no apparent reasons?
The article categorize webcomics into stereotypes
like
" Type C Webcomics
This is basically just manga created by someone without a publisher. Generally shoujo manga, meaning 75% yaoi, which tends to involve bishie guys making out. If not, there is some other kind of romance. Cherry blossoms are common. The artists tend to be either utter crap or ridiculously talented; in both cases they sell artwork online and have large fan bases of morons and rabid fangirls respectively."
An agressive manner of talking but yet he's right. Kinda.
No need to be a bitch, but he's right.
Stereotypes pleases, thought
a lot of people love those stereotypes - and our world need both stereotypes and "more orginal" work.
Also, durp.
Type S Comics
Type S Comics are those made by poor pathetic creatures who, in lieu of any actual artistic ability, instead turn to ripping off video game art, i.e. sprites. While some argue that these are indeed a form of webcomic, at best they are simply fan fictions with pictures. In any case, most sprites comics attempt to, and utterly fail to be funny. They are most often made by Sonicfags who are too lazy to learn to draw well.
LOL! My thoughts exactly! I was shocked that he left out Poser Porn though!

That's sorta the whole point of Encyclopaedia Dramatica. It's an angry satirical stand-up routine. Wouldn't be worth reading if they were actually fair!
eh, they're pretty much right. like 80-90% of the time, i find a webcomic and it's garbage.
the worst ones are sprite comics, i'm pretty sure there's no way to evade the perfect shitstorm of suck that comes from stealing art from video games and trying to force jokes into it.
it's funny, because ED exists to point out how much everything on the internet sucks, and then sucks just as hard. bunch of useless channers.

I have to agree with everything you said
I don't like sprite comics.
Oh not all are bad.
Some got REALLY good ideas. And not everyone can draw. They could ask for someone to draw their ideas for them. That's what professional do.
But, yeah. Rare are good sprite comics.
And it's always the same.
SONIC SPRITES.
Oh but no, it's not Sonic! He's GREEN. So he's not sonic. HE's sinoc, the Green Dog. Durp.
And ED is bad.
It used to be funny.
Now people just make articles as a revenge.
"OH MY, THIS GUY CRITISIZED ME/IS A FRIEND OF SNAPSNOGGER, I'M MAKING AN ARTICLE OF HIM ON ED! HIS ART SUCKS! HAHAHAHAH lolrofl"
only a few articles are good
and because of ED, there's a lot of retards using memes in a bad manner.
like people making comics about MUDKIPZ not even knowing what it was. Arrrgh!
Well ED is useful for learning about some memes and seeing some of the real wiki stuff that's gone forever from wiki, as well as the embarrassing failures and drama that wiki has tried to cover up. That's not bad.
As far as the opinions on comics go: everything it says is right in various ways, because it's all opinion and everyone has an opinion about something. They can't really be wrong because they're just... opinion.
I didn't know the Penny Arcade guys were that weird looking. They make Buckley look like Johnny Dep by comparison. I always pictured them as their characters...
SO while what they say about webcomics in general is pretty irrelevant, the actual info they have on specific webcomic stuff IS interesting in a way and it's not the sort of thing you could readily find anywhere else in such a nicely organised and presented wiki way.
ozoneocean > yeah, you're right. That's one particuliar wiki.
But wow, so many bad articles!
Some are very funny to read
like "uncle anon", god, very creepy, but it's the only place where you can see it.
Others, are uninterresting, and just the author having a grudge against a dude, pretty lame.
And they're still using the same excuse
"HE'S GAY"
"HIS ART SUCKS"
"HE'S FAT"
I'm not a big fan of ED...If I want something to laugh at it, I like Frikipedia (as far as I know, is only in Spanish), and if you want to found something actually useful or interesting about memes or entretainment-narrative devices, TVtropes is a way better (and funnier at times) site.
it sounds to me like it's just reposting all the bitching and moaning i hear about webcomics anywhere ELSE on the net. there's nothing new here.
yeah exactly. their forgetting that just like EVERY OTHER FORM OF MEDIA AND ART OUT THERE (IE music, films, print comics, manga) 90% of it IS utter crap. the end.
"Kung Fu Komix IS...hardcore martial art action all the way. 8/10" -Harkovast
"Kung Fu Komix is that rare comic that is made with heart and love of the medium, and it delivers" -Zenstrive
"Kung Fu Komix is...so awesome" -threeeyeswurm
"Kung Fu Komix is..told with all the stupid exuberance of the genre it parodies" -The Real Macabre
It seems to me that what EDer's have against webcomics is a fairly similar arguement applied to self-publishing as a whole. Basically, the flawed assumption that the only reason why something wouldn't get published profesionally in mainstream is because it sucks. I'll be honest that it's part true but definitely not entirely, the way comics and books work is that in order to be published it has be approved by an editor. If the editor doesn't think that what's being submitted will sell it's rejected, this can be because it actually is terrible or it could be that it just doesn't have a marketable premise. That is to say there are good stories about street youth, sex workers, gay people, transvestites etc. that get rejected because publishers don't think that they'll sell so good.
Part of the reason why people make webcomics and self-publish is so they can have some level of creative freedom-- not to say that having imput from someone like an editor is entirely bad, hell it's even helpful. I'm also not saying that there isn't some genuinely awful stuff out there in internet-world either.
I like ED, because I find some of it hilarious.
But they pretty much rant about everything. Because apparently, it's cool to hate everything.
They are right about a few things, like how most of it is just manga, and 90% of that is Yaoi.
But not every comic is manga, or is bad. In fact, I know quite a few good webcomics. (Sam and Fuzzy, Acrobat, Despotize, Splash Damage just to name a few)
3 of those that I listed, are here from DD.
Although, just like any other form of entertainment, not everybody is going to like everything.
Like video games, for instance.
One guy could be into Action/Adventure games. And absolutely despise Shooters.
Another guy, could be into Shooters, and absolutely despise Action/Adventure games.
It's just how the world works.
Those same rules apply to just anything.
I actually just forgot where I was going with this.
Uh.
Anyway, it's not necessarily cool to hate everything, they just do it for the lulz.
I think most people here are missing the point of ED. It's supposed to piss you off in one way or another, that's what it was made for. ED is not made of one person, everybody (and trolls) makes articles and usually they're doing it to piss off the fanbase of that particular subject.
That said, I think ED is hilarious. If people can't learn to laugh at themselves, they're in the wrong business.

I half agree with you. I do think that we need to learn to laugh at ourselves. It comes with the territory in the world of webcomics (and pretty much any form of artistic expression).
However, ED is just...boring. The relentless bashing there is really not that funny (we get it, you hate CAD/Twilight/Naruto/Harry Potter) is just trolling. It's been done before and it's been done better.
Somebody should write an article on ED about how much ED sucks...
ED is getting as bad as /b/ and 4Chan basically - the Idea has become the Institution.
A Ronin writer, a masterless samurai of the written word... Updating: Main comic: Mondays & Thursdays. Now in glorious Ink Wash and Water Soluble Pencil! Reva's note: This is not created digitally, it's all hand drawn and inked.
