It would be nice to be able to search for comics that have updated within a certain time frame without excluding those rare completed comics. In other words searching among living and completed comics.

It's conceivable that completed comics ane ignored due to not updating recently- Because they're completed. I like completed comics, but not looking for them... maybe I'm just unaware of the proper method to find them..

While I'm wishing, why not a hiatus indicator too....

Kind of like how you could indicate what genre the comic is, just a "yes/no" option for weather or not the comic has finished it's run?

Could be a neat idea. Like you said, finished comics too fly off the radar rather fast, and when there is a story that has a coherent begining middle and end, it's best read through in full. Fading away kind of prevents it from building a whole new audience that can otherwise enjoy it from start to finish.

Then again, some people could abuse that system. I remember a while back I changed mine to "manga" just so I would be displayed in it's top five (I think I was number four or something). So some sneaky kids could use it to gain more attention. But you have to wonder how effective that would really be. :/

The yes/no was the general thought, yes.

A deterrent could be to make it applicable only once the comic hasn't updated for a time period- or suppose for comics marked completed there could be a "report not completed" link. But then, preventative measures always make things more complicated and difficult.

Hopefully, the distinction between those completed and those abusing would be clear enough, and abusers few enough that it could still be beneficial.

I don't know enough about comikers' psyche to tell.

A nice as the idea sounds (SINCE NOW IM IN THIS EXCLUSIVE CLUB :V) I still think it would be adding too much more work for the admins, who already have enough on their plate. Still it sounds kinda neat.

Either way though, I dont think DD will get any major update for a very very long time.

It wouldn't be a problem for us to manage occasional reported things or whatever, but the core problem is that any new features (no matter how good an idea they are) require coding, which just isn't something platinum has ever been prepared to do for DD... unless it's their idea and increases their money or something somehow. After they did an initial surface revamp, they didn't do anything until we had huge image server problems.... and we had to bear through 6 months of that before they got around to fixing it. That was at least a year ago. :/

I'm never really sure what to say anymore in this forum. Most of the ideas suggested are good, but I sit there thinking that even keeping a record of these suggestions is totally useless because the chances of their ever getting done is basically zero.

My friends and I have often teased the idea of making a site almost exactly like Drunkduck, but fixing management issues with coding, user-interaction, and general layout (lets face it the mainpage is really bad). I can just never find a coder who gets more than a week into the project before getting caught up with something else. One got the mainpage done and then went on to build a porn search engine which he also gave up on to go after some anime related... thing.

I'm starting to just think coders are fickle people who cant be bothered to either finish what they start, or update anything they've worked on.

It would be very nice if there was some way for people to clearly see whether a comic is active/on hiatus/completed while searching, so that people don't find themselves reading through a comic (if they don't see the date) without realising it hasn't updated in 6 months. Because that's just annoying.
