I bring this topic up because the Left 4 Dead DLC comes out next week. I'm very excited. The new Survival mode sounds and looks extreeeemely fun! The possibility of two tanks at once sounds like a good challenge.
I also can't wait for the 'Melee Fatigue' thing. I love using a hunter in versus but 4 survivors crouching in a corner meleeing sure doesn't help my chances as a hunter.
I tried Survival mode for a little while last night. It's a little bit fun. I could only last about four-and-a-half minutes. It's amazing how out-of-hand things can get when the tank shows up. Fun as it was, it's disappointing to fight in a battle that's ultimately futile.
I'm aching for some new campaigns. That's where the fun's at.
I just got done with a pretty good bunch of survival rounds. If you get the right group, the right place to sit, and the right strategy, you can last pretty well. I got a few rounds over ten minutes, netting me a couple of gold medals.
Probably the most helpful trick I learned was just to stick with the auto-shotgun. I always liked the assault rifle for its precision long-distance attacks and the ability to keep the hordes from even getting close, but usually the deciding factor in Survival (as well as any campaign's final stand) is how the team handles the tank. There's simply no better way to take down a tank than with all four survivors unloading their auto-shotguns on the guy in unison.
4 Freakin' Tanks attacked us at once. FOUR. It was ridiculous! There was nowhere to run! I got thrown off a cliff, another guy was thrown in a rock and got incapped and died, the third guy got smoker'd to death and It was basically one guy alive. During the time that the 3 of us died we managed to kill 2 of the 4 tanks, while the last guy alive killed 'em both :\
He ended up gettin' ripped to shreds by a hunter.
Survival Mode is really intense... I was on edge the entire time!
