This is a thought that has been buzzing around in my head for quite some time now. I even made a comic based on this notion.

But before I expressed my views, I wanted to see what others thought of the matter.

That's what I thought when I read your comic, I've never heard of someone contracting AIDS by drinking blood but then again that isn't something that would happen a lot.
I think yes, oral sex can sometimes conduct AIDS so logically so should blood.

I don't think AIDS would kill the vampire, but what if it became a carrier without symptoms? He could infect the people he bit or allowed to drink his blood.

No, Vampires can't get AIDS. If you can't kill them by decapitation and burning etc, then a mere disease that attacks their immune response isn't going to do much.

Still they are made-up and you can modify the mythology however you like. So then yes, they CAN get AIDS and die from it, plusany other problem you like

You might as well ask if vampires have a working immunity system? Can they get the common cold? How about sickle cell anemia? (I remember a story about African vampires who suffered from that. How about a vampire biting a hemophiliac and suffering the disease as long as that blood was in him.

It's your story and you can make it anything you want. Depends on what your story needs to grow and develop.

Well, as silly as this topic may be, my input would be that the worst thing that could happen to the vampire is that he'd became a carrier for the virus. It wouldn't affect him the least bit but everyone he bit would be infected by it and thus get sick (if they didn't die during the feeding or get turn into vampires themselves).

since vampires are technically (un)dead, their immune systems and such wouldn't really work in the same way as an human's... at best it'd just stop working the moment they were vampires. And of course since they're dead, most diseases wouldn't affect them too much. and as seeing most diseases need an living body to flourish inside, that basically means being an vampire means that they're immune from things like the common cold.

So the question you should ask yourself-- Can AIDs still exist inside an body that's dead? Or would it simply dissipate after the body's been dead for a certain time peroid? If it can still habit an dead body... then therefore the vampires would become carriers for the virus. It wouldn't affect them too much though.

I'd hate to be bit by one of those aids-infected vampires. Especially since you would have to try to explain to your loved one that no, you weren't cheating on them or anything. You weren't drug-using or some other shit. And would they even believe you if you said you got bit by an vampire? lol

That would be an fine example of how being bit by an AIDs-infected vampire would seriously damage your life in more than one way than just slowly killing you. :p

I think the question one must ask themselves is if Clampires* can contract CHAIDS**?

I don't think a vampire will be affected by aids even if his exterior shell is black and his sexual orientation is gay.

Because a vampire is not human. Therefore a weapon designed for a human does not affect a vampire.

Um...no. You know, kyupol, you don't have to believe EVERY conspiracy theory you read or hear about somewhere. And I don't know about you, but where I live the majority of people who get AIDS are actually young heterosexual people.

Well, AIDS is HIV in it's most advanced stage and one that require an immune system for it to operate by taking over the T4 cells in our immune system. So AIDS could not actively reproduce too much in a dead body and even though it could eventually take over and destroy all the T4 cells in that body, it would have no apparent effect in a dead person. However, since it is a virus it would then most likely follow it's normal pattern of behavior and become dormant until it could find a suitable host to progress with reproduction in.

So, basically, a vampire could be a carrier of the AIDS virus, in much the same way someone can be a carrier for Mononucleosis by having the disease within them but not affecting them, but they would not technically be classified as having contracted the disease since it needs a living host to cause death or any form of damage.

I just did the basic research on webMD real quick to make sure my facts were right. It's all there to look up. And yes, I know I'm a dork for knowing that much about infectious diseases in the first place.

the fruity rave ones can because they have too much butt sex. otherwise i'm not sure about the regular ones.
remember though, just cuase it's food to a vamp doesnt necessarily mean they cant get sick from it some how. look at how often food can get us sick, we eat chicken all the time, yet it's easy to get sick from it if it's not cooked well enough.

diet is very important to all living, and as far as ANYONE knows, undead things as well because they obviously need to be sustained by something otherwise why would they start sucking people's blood and stuff? unless it was to impress their dorky friends.

I say that AIDS and vampires would be like malaria and mosquitoes. They can carry it and give it to other people but the disease doesn't affect them.

But then again people turn into vampires if they're bitten by a vampire right? So I guess that would mean that there's no one that a vampire can give AIDS too, unless sexually??? (Jonko goes and thinks about this matter some more).
