For a fair while I searched out music videos I really enjoyed, because the melding of music and visuals can be so powerful. What I have here is a (fairly incomplete) list of music videos that I really like for some reason or another - they stand out from the rest for some reason.
Note, I do not necessarily like the songs - some I really, really do not like at all, but the video kind of makes it for me. There are a number of songs I love, but the music video is incomprehensible crap or merely bland, like this.
Anyways, here is my list, I would like to hear what others think, or to know of any others that should be on the list (remember - good videos - not necessarily songs you like):
I'm not going to link them because I don't have time, but here's my short list:
Any video by The Offspring. Especially, Can't Repeat, Pretty Fly for a White Guy, You're Gonna Go Far Kid and Hit That. They just make good videos period.
Mustard Plug's Mr. Smiley. Ska energy and a guy with a smiley face head, what's not to like?
Alien Ant Farm's Smooth Criminal and Sticks and Stones.
Blink 182's What's my Age Again?. I find it hilarious personally.
Agree on Bjork - AiFoL, Fatboy Slim - Right Here, Tool - Sober, NIN - Closer.
These are all fantastic as well, I'll YouTube edit them when I feel like it.
Kid 606 - Sometimes
Aphex Twin - Come to Daddy
Aphex Twin - Windowlicker
Autechre - Gantz Graf
Portishead - Only You
Fat City Reprise - Long Gone
Boris - Ibitsu
Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Pin
Beastie Boys - Intergalactic
"Kung Fu Komix IS...hardcore martial art action all the way. 8/10" -Harkovast
"Kung Fu Komix is that rare comic that is made with heart and love of the medium, and it delivers" -Zenstrive
"Kung Fu Komix is...so awesome" -threeeyeswurm
"Kung Fu Komix is..told with all the stupid exuberance of the genre it parodies" -The Real Macabre
...And I always loved Bjork's unique videos. Especially "I Miss You", animated by John Kricfalusi and his cohorts at Spumco. ...I couldn't find it on YouTube, but you can download a lot of her videos here.
HAHA! check out at 56 seconds in when Scott get's nailed in the head with the microphone. all the band members have switched insturments too. it's a rap song they did before they did Bring The Noise with Public Enemy. like even if you just completely completely hate rap [and no this isnt the bland crap you're probably thinking of.] listen to this. song and video wise, it's just fuckin hilarious! YOU'LL SHIT!
[embedding was disabled though so i can only put the link.]
I can't provide a link here at work as they've blocked youtube and I think the video I had was deleted anyways. If you ever do see it, you'll know though.
In my day, video games gave you three chances to kill about 2000 enemies in one sitting with no pause button. Easy mode meant you got two more lives to throw away on the first boss. You don't know the meaning of hard.
I'm not a big kanye west fan, I don't mind the guy but I don't really seek him out either. Songs pretty EH but the video I love specially the animation style, I assume its drawn ontop of prerecorded footage but still looks great
I wanted to post in this thread but for some reason I couldn't come up with anything strong enough to throw it in here... Well, just found this few days ago. Works perfectly with music, doesn't it? :D
