Hello I recently started to make a comic and after improving my artwork I still realized that I need help in shading and shadows. I have photoshop 7 btw. When I initially draw the art work it looks pretty good then I go through the process of scanning it and adding color and I end up hating it so can anyone give me a hand with those problems? :/

Did you try browsing through the tutorials? There's some helpful stuff to be found.

Whatever you do, don't use dodge and burn.

Hyena is right, there are some useful tutorials.

Mainly though you just have to keep trying things until you find something you like. Make sure you utilize Photoshop's layer system- multiply mode can be quite handy. Don't be afraid to experiment with colors.

If you can tell us what specifically you don't like about the images after you've colored them, people may be able to give you more specific advice.

Well, it might not be that great of a tute, but it was the first one specially made for that section :P
You may find it useful, I don't know.

Well, what helped me was reading tutorials that taught the same thing like Ozone's (for years actually). But, I really didn't understand them. On a thread in the community forum, Pastel put up a couple of her finished works in .psd files. That is what helped me more than anything else, being able to break down a finished project while reading the tutorials on how you are supposed to do it.

If the files are still available, they are here.
