I'm from Shawnee, Oklahoma and there is no server in Oklahoma, so that's why it's so slow. Although, my internet cord is 100 mbps.

a server 200 miles away compared to 100, while downloading items...

Mine's not great but it's good enough for me. :] 533kb/s download, 245kb/s upload. Good ol' Virgin, makin' me pay for a 1.5 plan and only giving me .5!

If i were on dailup I wouldn't even be able to load the site.

That's my first test. My ISP limits me to 8 Mps anyway. And the upload is pathetic. the top speed is more than that though.

I think we have fiberoptic. I remember someone accidentally cut it a year ago. The whole campus was down for two days.

I have the exact same internet as you and my speed is slower, wtf?

She said she was in a dorm so it's probably the fastest most expensive service they can provide.

I use Clearwire and mine's about 750kbps down, 300-something kbps up (from memory, the last time I did a speedtest). It's for a very basic and reasonable plan! I'm gonna upgrade the plan once I secure a new job because the internet keeps making things that make me desire speed.

i guess thats good considering i'm testing this on a machine that's almost 10 years old with a USB modem and extension cord atached to a whiskey bottle pointed towards the neighbors house

I just remembered we have a "internet at night twice as fast" thing going on for the next few weeks, so I did a second test.



Sure, the speeds aren't the greatest, but it's a fairly solid company and they rarely have any downtime (last month for a day and before that somewhere around summer).
