I like it actually, but they definitely stole the whole avatar look from the Wii in a way. I dunno.....

Its really good, I think Microsoft made the best choice with this.
Yeah the 'Avatars' are a Mii ripoff, but they certainly look better
on the 360.
Its a lot better than the Blades

I think the new interface is just new wrapping paper on the same package. It looks cleaner and nicer than the old blades, but I'm going to have to re-find all the things I used to use. And I think that the cascading panels are a bit distracting at times, and sometimes just a plain text list would be better.

I like the avatars. They have a lot more options than Miis and they look better. However, what little you had in the Miis was more flexible and not quite as hard-coded. Oh well, it's a trade off I guess. In the end I'm happier with the avatars, though I wish they would let me make lots of them instead of only having one tied to your account. I made nearly 100 Miis because I like creating my friends and celebrities.

I didn't really have a problem with the blades, but I only use my 360 to play singleplayer games, so I never used them. I've bought a couple things off xbox live and didn't have a problem with the blades... haven't tried with the new regular screens but I'm sure it's fine. I made a little avatar (I can't change the colors of the clothes :[ ) but I can't see where they come in, I was sending some messages and couldn't see other people's Xiis or anything. If I'm the only one who sees it, that's pretty useless. The fun thing with Miis was that you got to use them in some of the games, will you be able to do that with the Xiis?

As Hawk said, it seems to be pretty much the same, just a different look. They probably wanted their 'screen space' back because the blades were starting to take up lots of room on the sides.

Yeah, they do have a few Live Arcade games that you can download that will allow you to use your avatar. Namely Uno, Bomberman, and something called "Keflings".

Heh... Keflings. I find that funny because that's almost what you call people who live in the next town over where I live.

Now I just updated my Xbox the other day and was taken back by this bizarochange so it's still growing on me.

I find the new interface less intuitive than the old. I'm also kind of disappointed that the avatars are actually less customizable than Miis. It just shows how quickly Microsoft slapped this all together to beat Sony to the punch on Home.

I prefer Miis.

The new Xbox experience is the same thing as the old one just everything's put in other places. They could have just made an update to add the party system to the xbox...

The disc copy thing is next to useless. I haven't found one practical use for it.

The new system is much more efficient.

It is laid out much better, and has much better load times. The party system is excellent as it was clearly needed. I do agree the uploading a game feature is pointless unless you have a 120gb hard drive. I also thought the mini dashboard is much better than the side blades you used to get.

No doubt new clothes and accessories will shortly be available for the Avatars.

The load times were helped? I can't load anything worth shit with the new xbox stuff.

My brother says he's had problems with the load times as well. I wouldn't know myself, since I don't use Live or any of that other fancy shit.

I mean when I put in a game it takes years to confirm that I just put a disc in there.
