I don't usually get too worked up about celebrity deaths. But I'm going to miss Paul Newman. He was one of the greatest actors of all time. And the fact that he gave so much to charities and didn't show-boat it or exploit it is really commendable.
He was a cool actor all right.
and the charity was good.
But I've been missing him from movies for years now. His days as a leading man were log, long, long past... he was good as a grumpy old man, but I preferred him as the leading guy.
I liked the guy because he seemed so down to earth and a genuinely nice person, not like the modern image of a celebrity. (Also he had good food.) He lived a pretty full life though, he was racing cars after he was 80, and it seems he was happily married for a good long time. So it's sad that he's gone, but it is nice to think about the good from his life.
