The site appears to be fixed, although slow, but I'm finding that I can't upload new pages to my comic. It acts like it's doing it, but then takes me back to my list of pages and the new page fails to appear. I've been trying to re-upload a comic page that got eaten during the weekend crash. I'm not alone in this, am I?

I tried myself and had no trouble.
It could be something to do with the DNS problems of moving to a new server, in which case waiting a while for the net to catch up with the changes or going to OpenDNS.com and following the instructions there should help.
I don't know what else to advise, since it works for me and I'm currently using openDNS

I can otherwise see the site fine, though. Could there be some glitch since I'm trying to re-upload a page (same file, same page name, etc.) that was up before but disappeared during the crash?

Well the way to test that would be to try uploading a different file with a different description and see if that changes anything.

It didn't matter. Changing the page name and file name didn't work. It still is refusing to upload any new pages. I get the impression I'm alone in this problem. Is something messed up with my account?

The only page uploading problems that have been reported to me so far are png files- are you uploading a png?

Indeed I am!

Do you think that is something that is likely to be fixed, or do I need to to switch file formats? I certainly prefer PNG, 'cos it's prettier.

I can't upload pages either. I have two comics. One of them I just started on 9/11, and ever since, have not been able to upload another page. What is weird is that I have no problem uploading to my other comic. Any ideas why that would be?

Well, it certainly SHOULD be fixed! Different people are reporting different problems with the images... things that aren't working for some are working fine with others. :[ So while I suspect that png files are a problem in general, the thumbnails and extra files uploads aren't working at all. I'm trying to come up with a precise report of which things are affected and in which ways, before I send Platinum any more info. They DID tell us to let them know of any problems caused by the server move, but they haven't replied to our other e-mails yet...

I'm not sure why you can upload pages to one comic and not another, Candyman :[ It looks like they are both jpgs?

I'm having the same problem as KDog.
My latest page, that was eaten by the server switch, won't upload.

Just a note: I can't upload files (which are PNG) and my comic has been around since February. I haven't tried JPG yet but will.

KDog, your comic seems to be the exception to the trend I thought I had found... a number of people have been reporting that they can't upload new pages, but they all created their comic between sept. 10 and the 19th (the last day saved by the server move)... so it's strange that your comic has been around since February but won't accept new pages. :/

The page existing during the missing weekend shouldn't make a difference- as far as the server knows, that weekend didn't exist. HOWEVER, we have reports of people who created comic accounts over the weekend, which vanished, but now when they try to re-make them, the system tells me a comic by that name already exists (but we can find no trace of it on the site)... so. :[

Can you add me as an assistant to your comic, and then send me the image you're trying to upload? I doubt it will work if I'm trying to upload a page, but it's worth a shot.

Skoolmunkee, thank you so much for your willingness to help! I've added you as an assistant. Where should I send the comic?

BTW, I tried uploading a JPEG, and it worked, so the problem seems to be with PNG files.

OK, so it seems to be some strange mixture of png and comic date then... but the comics created after sept 10 won't accept any file type for new pages. Still, if there's something universally happening with pngs not being accepted as pages, more people would have reported it... tons of people use png format (even though in most cases gif is a better choice)

So puzzling... :[

KDog, if you still want to send the file for me to try, it's skoolmunkee at gmail dot com. I doubt it will work but it's worth trying just for the sake of completeness

PNG's aren't giving me trouble.

(Don't lynch me! They give me smaller file sizes than .gif's!)

My comics are about knives, rats, and rats with knives.

Seeng as PNG wouldn't work, I saved the file as a low-compressed JPEG. But that wouldn't upload either! Then file name was different, as was the page name. Could the size have something to do with it? Like PNG, the file sizes are on the higher side. I WAS able to upload a smaller jpg of a photo as a test before, so could there be a size limit in place?

I doubt that's the case, there hasn't been an image size limit in place for a few years now (and when there was, it was pretty big, 5mb or something?) I don't know why they'd put one back in place now...

Edit: Your original png was over 3mb, which wasn't accepted as a page by you or by me. I just tried resaving your png to a jpg (500kb) and it was accepted with no problem.

so, either there IS some kind of size limit in place now, or something is timing out somewhere in the upload attempt. I'm going to have to ask (and hope for an answer).

I uploaded my "Go for it!" comic on the 9th. And I've tried the accurate used image-formats (jpg,gif,png,etc...).

I don't know what to do T_T...

Thanks, skoolmunkee! I'll have to go with JPG for now on, just at a compression that looks good. The one you uploaded looked nice, so I'll have to toy around with the compression levels.

I used 50% in photoshop I think PNG-8 also didn't look too bad, a little pixelly, but still a smallish file size.

Tedmund - Well, it looks like your comic is also affected by whatever is happening to comics created in the few weeks before the server move. The earliest reported comic we'd had for that was created on the 11th, but now it looks like it affects comics created from the 9th onward. I'm sorry... it's a really crummy thing, and we've told Platinum about what the problems are, but all we can do is wait for them to fix it. There's no workaround for what's going on with those accounts.

Thanks for the update up anyway. I can wait a bit more I guess.

No rush ^_^~

I tried to upload my comic pictures, and no matter what i try, it won't work. I tried Png, i tried jpeg, i made sure it was small enough in size, made sure the name and extension were correct and it STILL will not come up on the screen. I was able to upload before, but now it won't let me.

Help please!

It's a problem that has occurred since the server move. We're still waiting on some minor fixes that will hopefully resolve this situation.

I thought that I had a comic set to become live on October 1st (I assumed that that would be when it ticks over?) and it hasn't appeared. Should I reupload it?

It worked. I just wasn't sure if I'd end up with a double or something.

I have passed on to Platinum the names and comics of everyone I know about that has the page uploading problem (most of them from 9 sept onwards). The programmers need to find the commonality of settings between these accounts, and then hopefully they can make whatever changes need to be made to everyone affected. I don't have an estimated date for that though. :/ There will be a news announcement when it happens.

Sorry guys, I know waiting sucks.
