There's something on random DD pages that keeps trying to download something onto my computer...I think it's an advertising banner, actually, because the banner itself will not load but the bar at the top of the browser will come up that says "To help protect your security, Internet Explorer blocked this site from downloading files to your computer." Thus, it's not hurting me atm (I don't think...depending on how good their hacking skills are and how much I trust IE...which isn't much actually) but it's still disturbing that DD is hosting something that tries to DL some mystery file to your computer without telling you...

Is anyone else encountering this? Does anyone know what it is?

You're the second one to post about it, but there's nothing we can do unless we get more information, like a screenshot, a pic pf the ad, your 'options' from the error message. etc.

How's this? (I tried to link to the images so as not to take up space, but the links wouldn't work o_o I did resize the pics as small as possible without distorting what's important...)

In the first one, notice how no actual advertisement has loaded?
The second one is what happens to the advertisement when you click on another link. The only options that IE gives is to download the file anyway or find out why you shouldn't. Like I said, it's not downloading to my computer thanks to my browser, but still disturbing, neh?

Also, this isn't just happening once in a while. It's like this is the only advertisement that ever comes up except for an occasional legitimate one, regardless of where you are in the site.

This is the url that popped up when I looked at the properties of the advertisement, if it helps...it's probably just the same for each one, though.

Thanks, I'm putting together something to send to Platinum now. Hopefully we have enough information they can find the problem.

I get the same thing on about 50% of pages - the file it's asking to download is a .js thing.

Thank you admins!! I love that you guys are so quick to respond and actually take an interest unlike some admins...that's just one of the reasons I love DD so much! *huggles* I know it's a tough job, but you do it better than anyone!

It's not a virus, malware, or spyware. It's just a piece of javascript that IE fails to handle and tries to download each time you see the ads, while Firefox has no trouble with it and just runs it as normal.
So it's a compatibility problem with browsers.

I'm pretty sure that it should be fixed by now? Post if you have any more troubles with it.

LoL! Nice. Maybe i SHOULD consider switching to Firefox...I've been resisting for a while, but it seems to be the best choice...

Thanks so much! Seems to be fixed now *hearts*
