You'll have to edit your template in raw HTML mode - which means you won't be able to use your template. There are some copy-and-paste templates in some stickied threads in the coding help forum if you need them to edit the design of your page.

Anyway, to add the actual vote button, just pick where you want it to appear - for simplicity's sake, I'd suggest putting it just below the author's notes - and paste the chunk of HTML that the voting website should give you right under the code for the author's notes. It should end up looking something like this -

{AUTHORS_NOTES}

<a href="http://url.com/voteforthiscomic.html"><img src="http://drunkduck.com/Your_Comic/gfx/vote.jpg" border="0"></a>

Although the { } curly brackets will be ] [ straight brackets - the forum just doesn't seem to like it if you type the brackets correctly and won't show it.

You could place it pretty much wherever you want, though.

Hope this actually makes sense ^^;. Good luck.

You can also just paste the html into the authors comments each time. It gets a bit repetitive but if you're finding it hard to edit your page its an easy alternative.

Author's notes use BBcode, just like the forums. So you'd put...

{url=http://votingsite.com/vote.html}{img}http://imageurl.com/image.jpg{/img}

...except with straight brackets ] [ not curly ones. If you go back to the voting site, I would imagine they give you the URL to paste into the url= section.

Wait.

Let's start at the beginning. Righter, what is it that you want people to vote for? Is it something like buzz comix or Top Web Comics, or is it something like the DD awards?
