I realize that there is a topic about the redirect ads in the "suggestions forum", but I must point out - as a very separate matter - that the New Redirect Ads are buggy. They do not, in fact, redirect people back as promised, at least not with my Safari browser.
Of course, I hope you get rid of them. But In the meantime , can we fix them so that they actually work?
Could you please describe exactly what they do?
Fortunately I don't seem to suffer any of these awful ads people complain about, but that means I'm at a disadvantage when handling complaints, so I need you to be as descriptive as possible so I can sort it out for you
-I need you to tell me where the ads redirect you too and what they're actually advertising so that I know what to tell the ad people about it.
Thanks very much for the screen shot and the suggestion.
Keep it coming. Hopefully when the working week starts at Plat again we can sort this out, and of we don't get rid of the damn things, at least we can make them more workable for the site, like adding those skip links and reducing the frequency that you get bombarded with them.
I came over to DD through a bookmark in Firefox and:
1) the DD main page loaded as per normal
2) right before I clicked it flashed to a full page AD
3) there was no skip button
4) I let it play out
5) it didn't redirect me to the DD main page
6) it directed me to the site I was at BEFORE coming over to DD
So then I clicked my bookmark again and got another AD, once again preventing me from clicking anything. I hit the back button and it loaded the page and then immediately went to do another AD. So I hit Back and then stop.
This is a very bad idea. Making money though Ads is one thing, but this new method is bound to make DD/Plat LESS money because I foresee it driving traffic DOWN. No one is going to want to visit a crippled site. Current users might put up with it for a little while because they know the great content here, but new users are going to say "fahgetaboutit".
