I have no idea if this is an area thingy, or a server service malfunction... but I can not see any images on this site (other than ads and linked images) NOTHING! Any other site I look at is just fine?!?!?!
Two days ago it was just fine. I have checked on 4 computers in different locations, and all are the same... So, I know it is not a computer mishap, or a setting problem...

this is what I see, or should I say don't see...

If some one on the server side could check the router settings, or something like that please...

On four different computers...? That means you've had to have signed out and in again...
And that made no difference?

Have your tried setting up a new account and seeing if you can see anything with that?

Different browsers?

Have you tried right clicking on one of the pics and going "view image"? (or whatever that browser pops up with). Does that show anything?

The clicking on the image does not work.... and it is all images, not just a handfull....

I hate to try a new browser, but I will if it takes much longer for me to see pictures....

This has happened to me before in Fire Fox.

Twice.

Once I had to clear all my coolies, history. etc to fix it

And once I fixed it by re downloading firefox.

Though it seems odd it would be happening on 4 computers at once! o_O

Foxfire a NO GO.... any suggestions now?!?!?!?

I'm still thinking it is between here and there... Every single page I go to no problems, this is the only one?!?!?!?

Are there any other sites on the same server that I can try to view?
If the same thing happens, then we will know it is on the server side... if I can see the whole site.... your guess is better than mine!

I guess platinum studios would have the same server...

This is really weird though...
Maybe it's a regional thing?
Like when that ad was blocking the site for British users?
:/

ALWAYS WATCHING.

What's your favourite type of signature?

I can view all of the Platinum Studios site with no problems..... (?_?)
When British users had a problem, was it the same as mine, can see text, just no images?
Cause all the ads are the same as they were 3 days ago here... any image not hoasted on this site I can see... ads are linked from other sites....
Strange?!?!?!?!!?

No, it just loaded up the header and the ad.

I guess it's some new form of region problem...

Have you tried IE? Most images should be located on content-images.drunkduck.com I think, have you tried pinging that address? Can you right click where an image would be and select view image? Have you tried ctrl+f5? ctrl+shift+delete? Do you have adblock at all? If so have you tried checking it to see if it's currently filtering anything out?

Just throwing some ideas out there.

Man, that really sucks. I'm not sure what to tell you. :[ It's some problem between DD's image server and your country, but I don't know where the problem comes in. I'll let Volte know someone's having problems, but if he hasn't made any changes to the image server it will take some investigating. :/

strange!!!!!!

I'm not tryin' to point fingers or blame anything/one, but come to think of it, I had no trouble before the http://www.wowio.com/users/searchresults.asp?nPublisherId=140 link went up on the top bar of this site....
If the problem was an ad for the British users, well maybe, just maybe......

I think the Wowio ads only went up yesterday, but you'd been having your problem for about 3 days now?

... If it really is the ads then maybe you should try adblock for firefox and a filterset to stop the ads loading completely?

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1865 - adblock plus

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1136 - filterset updater

Wish it was that easy... as I always have/had some sort of ad blocking on my computer, as I am sure some in England did when their problem happened. The ads do not effect the viewing computer, as the effect the source html... I thought the wowio link might be the culprit, as they do not allow downloads in asia, so their link might have a non asian specific code or something...

Well, if it's the wowio ads, you should still be able to see images on the regular comic pages. The topbar is different on those pages and doesn't have the wowio ads as far as I can see. Have you tried visiting some comics in your favorites list?

Yes, the comics were the 2nd thing I did.... the 1st was logging in.

What was the problem when England users could not see things? Could it be a similar problem?

Oh right, you have a screencap of a comic page right there in your first page, I'm smart

The problem for England folks was one specific ad. When that ad was trying to load on a page, the page would only load the header info, and the rest of the page was blank and the browser would spin and spin. When the ad wasn't trying to load (ie a different ad in the rotation came up) there wasn't a problem.

So I don't think it's the same as what you're seeing. Yours seems to be a miscommunication between the image server and your computer. It's not interfering wih the rest of the page, it's just making the images inaccessible to you. Which really sucks of course :/ I've already emailed Volte but I imagine he doesn't check work email over the weekend... :/

I think it is more than just my computers... I have no idea how many folks from Japan surf, or log on to this site, but I know that one other user in Asia (spunkbrat) is also having the problem. I have check on every computer I own and every one I came across... 2 at work 2at home several friend's and my brother in-law's.. so now the tally is 9 computers at 5 locations...

Who does check their mail when they are off... I know I don't either!

Thanks for helping... knowing that this site works through users problems is one of the biggest reasons I came to Drunk Duck, and a big reason why I will continue to stay!!
Thanx

Sorry, I didn't mean to say that it's just your computer It couldn't be because you've tried it in so many places. I just meant that's where the wires are shorting out, someplace along that line between the image server and you.

Well that makes 4 users effected by this problem... urge anyone that has the same problem to please voice out... just a handful of folks sound like they (I'm) complaining... get a more, then it becomes a problem... so, If you can't use your eyes here, use your mouth (in this case fingers)

I just noticed that there are wowio banners on every page that I come across...
and ad blockers only block the visual ad, not the html and or the place holder... so, I will stay my grounds to say/think that the wowio ads are the evil doers. Is there a way to have regional advertisements on this site?!?!? As I said before, people in Asian can NOT download anything from wowio, so it would behoove us to have ads for things/products in this region... not ads that we can not use even if we wanted to (by the way, I would love to use wowio...)

Only people in the US can. I'm not in the US. I see everything fine. Does http://content-images.drunkduck.com/site_gfx_new_v3/header_logo_top.gif load up if you click it? There wouldn't be any html code blocking just an image by itself.

I've emailed Volte again letting him know this is a bigger issue than it might have seemed at first, and linked him to this thread.

That seems so strange that one ad (not even an image ad in some cases, the main page ones are just text) can block all the images from a specific server? I don't even know how that would work, tech-speaking. You'd think all the acceptable images would work fine at least.

killersteak's idea is a good one, interested to see what happens there.
