I'm not sure how to fix that...
Usually the problem is that someone doesn't want e-mails anymore and but they can't turn them off. They're not going into your junk folder are they?
no, I just don't get one..but the wierd thing is that it's not just for a few comics, I sometimes get a mail and sometimes don't I really have no idea what's going on =/
I'm not sure, but I'll take a guess...
It could be on our end then I'd imagine. It could have something to do with when a comic updates maybe? If a comic updates early in the day (the day in the U.S. and just after midnight specifically) or is queued to update, it will show as updated for the whole day: a full 24 hours.
If it updates later, it won't show as updated for as long.
Now, given the automatic time based nature of the notifications and the fact that queued comics update at midnight (in which U.S. time zone I'm not sure), perhaps the e-mail alerts are only sent out for comics updated early or just queued comics? That would mean that all the comics updated at odd times wouldn't send out notifications...
That's just a guess mind you, since I'm not privy to those inner workings. But it has a certain logic in that it would prevent lots of e-mails being sent out if someone wasn't happy with their comic and deleted and uploaded it several times in one day.
I noticed last night that a comic I had on e-mail updates had updated a few days ago, in the middle of the day. I don't normally do e-mail updates but I'd put this comic on because I was hoping to feature it if it came off hiatus. So although it doesn't really answer anything as far as consistency goes, I should have gotten an email and didn't.
I did a test and it's confirmed to my satisfaction! ^_^
You'll only get an e-mail update if the comic updates at the changeover, which is midnight DD time. And most likely the comic will have to be queued to make that happen.
If a comic updates at ANY over time, you won't get an e-mail about it. So it's best to use the alerter or check your DD faves on the site, unless you know that the comic auto updates.
----------------------------------------------
-That was my hypothesis, and that's is what I've inferred from my experiment. Admittedly it was the smallest sample possible, but DD is pretty consistent in this regard:
1. I faved two of my test comics and asked to be notified of updates by e-mail on both of them.
2. I updated the Black one yesterday at a random time.
3. I queued the White one to auto update today.
4. Yesterday after the Black comic updated I did not receive any e-mail notifications. But it DID update in my faves.
5. Today when the White comic auto updated I got an email notification AND it also updated in my faves.
