A few months back there was a community project known as the Three Way Comic. Unfortunately, the project's creator seems to have let it die. Since the concept is rather intriguing, I'd like to start it back up again and have it survive past three comics.

The process remains the same.

--The concept designer creates the general idea for the page.

--The artist creates the page sans text based on what the concept designer gave.

--The writer adds in the text based on the artist's creation. The writer will not know the concept designer's original idea.

--I must receive a copy of the concept prior to posting.

The restrictions are minimal:

--The concept designer cannot specify actions in panels, the amount of panels, or anything else that goes beyond a general idea.

--The concept designer cannot discuss his/her idea with the writer.

--The artist must leave sufficient room for the text.

--All content must be kept at a Teen rating. This is a family friendly project.

--Each participant must send me a copy of what they did to ensure the guidelines were followed.

I will start off as a concept designer for the first group, and everyone else can sign up for the remainder of the positions first come first served. Only three groups will be available from the start, but more will be added as more sign up.

Hopefully, we can get this project back on track.

If I might make a tiny suggestion, can you use a word other than redux if you're going to name it officially? There's another comic project called "comic redux" and people might get confused.

This idea sounds cool.
I can be a concept design person or a writer, whichever more in a group.

One small question, are these all going to be stand-alone comics or will there be some element of continuity?

I saw the original thread and I thought it was interesting but I never signed up...

Can I see if I've got this clear? The concept designer tells the artist something like "a parade of penguins eating tofu", and the artist draws the page, and finally the writer puts in speech bubbles? And it's all one page?

I'm hyped that this is getting revived already!

@skoolmunkee: That's a good idea. "Redux" was just the first term that came to me that wasn't "v2," so I don't have any issues changing it.

@SuperBiasedMan: All comics are standalone, so you can go from a space fight to penguins. I'll put you down for the writer on group one.

@Luminous: Speaking of penguins, you have the idea down perfectly.

@Jules: I'll put you into the first group so that can be finished out.


Once the first three groups fill up, I'll let everyone start and open up the next three groups. Also, logistics on signing up for another group will be based upon turnout to ensure everyone has a chance to participate. Finally, I'm using the term "group" instead of "comic" if group 3 finishes before group 2, group 3's comic goes up first. More logistics will be fleshed out as this progresses.

@mousetrap: It's a single page, but it can be as many panels as you wish. If you want to do another page, you'll need to sign up for another.

I can be the one of the concept designers if you still need one. This is a great idea; it reminds me of when we used to make group comics in middle school and one of my friends was the designated "idea-man".

Be sure to send me a copy of each step (except the first group for obvious reasons) for quality assurance. I'm fairly lenient on this stuff, but better safe than sorry.

SpiritMonkey: You are correct. As opposed to the last iteration of this, I'm trying to remove all of the major lag points. Otherwise, someone who signed up may leave before the project gets up to them.

Good news, the art for the first page is done!
Now it's just a matter of me revising/editing it, then sending it to you Super Biased Man.
