I'm putting together a portfolio for Art schools, and I need advice.

I've been out of school for about a year, and out of art school (high school) for 2 years. Without the structure of a scholastic institution, I've just done my own thing in terms of art.

A lot of my more recent work isn't from life, whereas a lot of my older work is.

Is it in poor taste for me to include work from 2005-2006(spring)?
Should my portfolio consist only of my best works and current works?

The school I'm applying to didn't give a lot a specification, and I'm sending my work in via cd format.

Something else to consider is that in 2006 this same school approved my portfolio (which consisted of the older works I'm wondering about)on the spot at a portfolio day-thing but I chose not to go to art school.

If this is in the wrong forum please let me know.

It just definitely contain only your best work, but that doesn't necessarily mean new. Your best bet is to include both, to show that you're flexible.

Hey buddy, you should be a Russian Cosmonaut, and here's why.

Like Custard Trout says - show them your best work. If the old pieces are from life, then it's probably a good idea to include some of them, since that will show the school you have drawn from life - and if your newer pieces show some other part of what you know (colour theory, composition, whatever), then include some of those as well.
