Hi. I am not sure if this is the place. I am not plugging my comic but I want to rethink the way its presented and I wanted some feedback. For awhile I have been posting 3 pages every week. Normally on sunday and letting the chips fall were they may. But I have come to realize that its not working out. I don't get many views. If at all. And I am begining to think it has something to do with the way I am presenting it. So thats my question here. Has anyone found some way to successfully find an audience? I have been postponing posting pages for awhile until I can find a better way to get noticed here. My thought is that since I do,roughly, 3 pages or so a week to post every other day. And try to keep "in play" so to speak. Any thoughts?

I've found that I get more page views if I update on a m-f rather than the weekend. And being active on the forums helps a lot too.

Yep. Weekday updates are better. Also, I'd avoid uploading more than a page a day or people might skip or miss an update.

Aside from that, make an appearance in the community and give it some time. People have to hear about you and find you. Post in the forums. Participating in community projects helps too. And make sure you comment regularly on the comics you read. Most creators like to have a look at the types of things their readers create, and it lets the other readers see that you exist too. (Plus everyone appreciates comments.)

My comics are about knives, rats, and rats with knives.

Try these tips:

1) comment on other comics
2) be active in the forums like what someone else said.
3) not just this forum. Go to other forums you visit. If you have other hobbies, political and religious forums, etc. go plug it there.
4) Talk to people about it.
5) Some people actually go out of their way to go to conventions and set up their own booth. I havent done this yet.

NOW UPDATING!!!

Posting in forums helps because you can always subtly plug your comic everytime you post.
I mean, your asking a question about you comic, but you haven't once said what the title is.
having a link/button to your comic in your signature helps too. You posting this makes me want to look at your comic, but I don't even know what it's called. Notice everybody else in this thread that has replied has inadvertently plugged their comics with their sigs.

most people on the internetz won't take the initiative to look at your profile to find your comic, so you have to keep feeding it to them in small doses.

Well I think Usedbooks said everything you need to know, although I also think it helps to get to know your fellow creators, and not just in the forums. Send a little bit of fanmail to the authors of comics you really like, a lot of creators don't get that; introduce yourself to them and try to make some acquaintances. They might not read your comic, but you'll be better off in the long run.

Other than that, just keep trying. You'll get some readers.

A Roll of the Dice now with full-size pages!

John Clyde now with ten times the tacky Hawaiian shirts!
